A Grade Match Report: Round 14 2025 v Salisbury North

Seeded during Preseason was a strong commitment to performing on the road , today was another opportunity against an opponent we have a rich history against.

Conditions heading into the game suggested it would be a highly contested game and a challenge for both sides to move the ball.

The opening stanza of the game failed to go to plan with our opponents commanding territory and getting the fast start we were searching for. Immediately our back 6 were under pressure compounded by the prevailing conditions. Darci Best’s marking dominance held back many entries and was a precursor to his dominance for the remaining game. The deficit at the first break 13 points.

Acknowledging we need to increase our work rate and pressure we headed into the second to gain control of the game. The second proved to be an arm wrestle with as expected contest after contest. James Warton along with debutant Paddy Baldwin kept grinding inside to gain that control and shift in momentum we were searching for. The main break had the deficit out to 17 points.

The third was a totally different story…we regained control of the ball and played our brand. Along with Darci Best, Hayden Swanbury controlled the back 6 and Finn Wakelin asserted his dominance on the game clutching three contested marks in as many minutes threatening to break the game wide open. El Murada was in and under in conditions he revealed in …the margin cut back to 5 points.

With momentum in our control the opening minutes we created opportunities which we failed to capitalise on, but we inched closure with the final minutes a point separating the two sides , but a costly defensive 50 turnover gave the game to our opponents by 7 points on the final siren.

Final Score : ROCFC 6.7.43 defeated by Salisbury North 6.14.50

An opportunity not taken on the road , but we look to learn and move onto next week.

B Grade Match Report: Round 14 2025 v Salisbury North

We came into Round 14 with our focus and theme on “Territory”. We built this week around continuing our on-field structures and connection to each other in our system - if we do this keeping our territory takes care of itself.

We started the match kicking with the breeze and in tricky conditions out on the field we kicked our first and only goal for the quarter around the ten-minute mark. Whilst we had our fair share of the football our opposition did as well, and we managed to hold them goalless taking us into the break a goal up.

In the second quarter possession of the football was quite even amongst both teams, but we converted our chances well kicking 2 goals against the breeze to Salisbury North’s 1 goal. The most pleasing aspect of this half of football from our young side was our discipline to hold our opposition to only 1 goal in the half.

During the third quarter the opposition came out with a more aggressive game plan, but we scored quickly to post an early goal. We had opportunities to score a few easy goals that we couldn’t quite capitalise on and we headed into the final quarter 3 goals up.

The last quarter was an extremely disciplined performance from the whole side to value and look after the football, keeping the game on our terms. It was a solid 3-goal win from our young side and the boys are finding confidence at this level individually and as a team.

We spoke after the game about the maturity of our performance. We looked after ball, controlled play, limited our turnovers and displayed resilience. It was such a pleasing result against a side that we had lost to earlier in the season, showing the growth that we are continuing to build on.

C Grade Match Report: Round 14 2025 v Salisbury North

Whilst the weather for the most part was ok for the first game in the morning, the wind, some drizzle and SN’s pressure ensured that it wasn’t always one way traffic.

Without Wieu and also Kara, we were severely undermanned from a height perspective and when Fanta limped off at quarter time we were undersized across most lines. Daniel Cook did a great job in providing a presence in Ruck and around the game but it wasn’t until we moved to a sustained style of F1 footy that we really broke the game open.

At times our ball movement we electric and exciting to watch going coast to coast. Then at times are skill errors, execution and decision making and speed in pressing to defend were below where it should be. In fairness to our group, the constant change in personnel makes it difficult to sustain continuity and as coach I need to manage the expectations as well as frustrations a lot better.

Pleasingly, again for the 5th time this year, we shared to finishing with 11 goalkickers and resting mids Greeney, Sam Wazz and Brash all kicking multiples.

The result probably reflects a good result but it certainly wasn’t a game that was ever likely to hit great heights, we bank the points and look to focus on improvement areas with a solid week on the track in preparation for a return home v SPOC.

Thanks to those supporters that ventured out north bright and early Saturday morning to get behind the lads and thanks to my nephew Fraser Pedersen for goal umpiring for us also.

D Grade Match Report: Round 14 2025 v Walkerville

Rocs hosted a revamped Walkerville this week in a early morning match up after a few days of heavy rain.

Light drizzle throughout the day didn't effect the contest with some great teamwork from both sides producing effective run & carry football during the first stanza. Walkerville made the most of their forward opportunities and held a 7pt advantage at 1/4 time.

1/4-time score Rocs 3-1 vs Walkerville 4-2.

Rocs played with much better teamwork and created many opportunities for the forward line but could not find any cohesive movement and wasted most of the teams great teamwork while having control of play.

1/2: time score Rocs 4-5 vs Walkerville 6-3.

The Rocs Academy were soon in deep trouble as Walkerville made a blazing start to the second half booting a couple of quick goals and increased their run with a desperate Rocs struggling to find the efforts needed to stay in the contest Rocs kept trying to get back into the match but despite our best efforts could not stop the rampant Walkerville team from a dominant win.

Final score Rocs 7.8.50 defeated by Walkerville 15.8.98

Goalkickers- S.Marotti -3, J. Avlonitis -2, S.Tagg -1, D. Leggett -1.

Best players- S.Marotti, M. Bowman, M. Lombardi, C. Pietrafesa, J. Avlonitis, S.Tagg
