A Grade Match Report: Round 12 2025 v PACOC
Saturday was another critical game on our home deck with the conditions slightly wet but perfect for football.
The opening 10 min of the first quarter we found ourselves pushing too hard and our composure slightly off with our opponents opening the account with the first major of the game. We adjusted and settled into our style and began to build the scoreboard having the next 8 shots on goal to go into the break ahead by 20 points.
The second was played between the arcs for most of the quarter with our team defence holding firm restricting our opponents to just two points for the quarter. Our midfield through James Warton began to control centre bounce and stoppage around the ground and our forward line began to look dangerous with Tom McCormack and Jet Boxer playing havoc for their opponents. Our trademark was gaining momentum, and we were gaining control of the game. At halftime we were ahead by 33 points.
The third we lifted our intensity and pressure, our contest method and ball movement from all areas of the ground became a highlight as we controlled all phases of the game. Our captain Stefan Lanzoni and Ryan Lymn exerted their own authority on the contest and our team defence denied any and all movement from our opponents. The spread of goal scorers was growing as we kicked 5 goals and extended our lead out to 45 points at the final break.
Each week we search for a four-quarter performance with contributions from all 21 players and this was the challenge set at the final break. Continue to build the scoreboard and maintain the standard of performance we expect. The final was just that we controlled every element of the game going inside 50 a game high 18 times and had 13 shots on goal converting 5 of those as goals. Damon Stepic and Darci Best along with the back 6 continued to deny our opponents with the final siren sounding we had taken the lead out to 75 points, our biggest winning margin of the season and a dominant four quarter performance.
A strong win with so much to like, but one we need to move on from quickly as we know there is still more work to get done.

B Grade Match Report: Round 12 2025 v PACOC
We came into the game this week with our focus and theme on “Building”. We built this week around the fact that Rome was not built in a day and its philosophical meaning.
It has now been 3 weeks in a row that we have started the game well, and for the first time this year we kicked the first 2 goals of the game. We had a slight lead going into the second quarter and were certainly up and about.
Going into the second quarter we had the slight breeze and the opportunity to capitalise was ours for the taking. We did capitalise with some of the most exciting football we have played all year! Some of the coast-to-coast movement was electrifying. We went in 4 goals up at half time, after kicking 5 goals to 2 in the second quarter but knew the job was not done.
As all good sides do in this competition, they had a run at us by kicking a goal at the start of the third quarter. But what was defining for us was how we responded - with some outstanding composure. Our opposition threw everything at us throughout the third quarter, and we held them well to hold a 3 goal lead going into three quarter time.
The last quarter was certainly a highlights package for the group as they continued to take the game on and finish strongly with a 6-goal win.
The group thoroughly deserved this result and it was an amazing full team effort. Listening to the post-match song being celebrated with so much gusto was a testament of what the win meant to our group.

C Grade Match Report: Round 12 v PACOC
The focus of the C Grade is very much of development and preparing players to be ready to play roles in higher grades. From that perspective I’m really pleased that when called upon the players than went up to the B grade on Saturday were all terrific contributors in the B Grade win. The challenge for our grade is how we react with 10 players coming into the side.
First quarter, we were very good, probably the most intense pressure we have brought all year, and this reflected a slight lead at quarter time. Unfortunately, after half time we just could not sustain the required pressure level, and they kicked 11.7 to 0.1 in the second and third quarters and that was the game. To the boys credit we fought it out and kicked 4.3 to 0.1 in the last term, but the damage was done. We let ourselves and the club down in the middle stanza’s, 4 goals from 25m penalties really hurt us. Undisciplined acts can cost you severely against any side but especially the top echelon. We will focus on rectifying this for the balance of the year.
Clearly, they are a very experienced and talented C grade side. With the key personal we were missing and volume of changes we tried but just could not maintain the synergy.
I thank the following guys for offering to play for us whilst the D Grade has a bye, Marshall Nitschke who was more than comfortable at the level, George Psaradellis who showed in the last term he is growing, Lachie Tripodi has skill and poise and Sam Dubois the evergreen who did some heavy lifting against strong Ruck opposition.
Really pleased to have Morgan Crabtree return from injury and he showed glimpses of what he is capable off and with fitness he will only get better. From a development viewpoint Harvey Wilson for me displayed everything we want from him as a half back. He defended with purpose, intercept marks without fear and was clean and precise with ball use.
Finally, I pay tribute to Brad Warren who played his 50th game for the ROCS. Brad is a guy that epitomises the ROCK SOLID ethos and to me embodies everything that is good about the club. On the weekend he was a bit of a Mr Fix it for us but after half time assisted the back 6 who kept PAC to 0.1 in the last term.
Not a great result on the scoreboard, but many positives moving forward as we work through the grind of the coming weeks.
