A Grade Match Report: Round 4 v Broadview FC
In context it is important to understand that every club in Division One has committed to a standard of performance to firstly reach the level and then to remain competitive at the level. It is the reason as a club we have a high level of respect for all of our opponents each week.
A mandate cemented during preseason was to perform away from our home deck. Saturday’s encounter against Broadview was to be our third road trip in four weeks against a side rich in history.
The opening half of the first quarter we held an ascendency in the contest with the game being played in our front half and we managed to get out to an early lead in the game. Within minutes the momentum shifted and our back 6 were under extreme pressure as our opponents gained field position and dominated the back end of the quarter albeit were inefficient in front of goals taking a 7-point lead at the end of the first.
The second was an arm wrestle with the game being played between the arcs in what can only be described as turnover footy. Our opponents had increased their pressure around the ball, and we were making at times uncharacteristic decisions with ball in hand. It was an ugly look. The quarter ended without a goal being kicked by either side and the deficit remaining at 7 points.
The third was much the same in perfect conditions we continued to turn the ball over in high-risk areas of the ground giving our opponents easy ball and unpressured entries with our back 6 undersized and under the pump keeping us along with our opponents inefficiencies in the contest. We managed to kick a couple of goals during the quarter through the agency of Wakelin and McCormack to go into the final break with a slender lead of 2 points.
The final was a slight improvement on our earlier three quarters , with best afield Xavier Tranfa taking it up a gear through the midfield giving us the spark to regain control of the contest to ensure we could put the game beyond doubt with a game high 24 point margin in the final minutes of the game, with our opponent kicking their third goal and first since the end of the opening quarter to cut the final margin back to 16 points at the final siren.
Best players included best afield Xavier Tranfa with a blanket over both Connor Butcher and Beau Baldwin each having contributed to the final outcome with solid four quarter efforts along with veterans in James Butterworth and Tullio De Matteis both of whom when it counted were cool and composed.
Another win on the road was important, and so we must regroup, learn and reset to go again next week.

B Grade Match Report: Round 4 v Broadview FC
We came into this game with our weekly theme this week - “Voice”. We built this week around continual growth within the group by encouraging more voice within the group on field. Sustaining the directional voice on field amongst all players for the entire game will be the eventual outcome.
In the first qtr. It was obvious to see that Broadview were a good opposition and a well-seasoned Div. 1 reserves team. At times they were cleaner with the use of the football than our group thus going into the 1st qtr. break by points but to be fair it could have been by more if it wasn’t for our ruthless attack on the game.
In the second qtr. and third qtrs. we still needed to tidy up on our ball use and our turnovers were resulting on goals for the opposition and a deficit of 38 points at ¾ time.
At ¾ time we threw caution to the wind and the lads responded with some real clean ROCS football and gave Broadview a real fright kicking 5 goals with better execution and forward entries to help our forwards finish the job in front of goal.
The most significant thing about the game is that we played with a ruthless attack on the contest for the 88 minutes and never gave up at all. We recognise as a group to be more consistent for 88 minutes of total game time that Div. 1 reserves football needs.
Next week throws another challenge against an opponent we know well.

C Grade Match Report: Round 4 v Broadview FC
As Bootsy mentioned during the week, being able to win away from home in Division 1 is always a challenge and looking at past results and assuming opposition quality is fraught with danger.
With a number of key outs including our Tim Lewis, Fabian Di Lulio and Amer Elhosni, there was an opportunity for some new faces to come in and showcase their capabilities.
To Broadview’s credit they certainly challenged us at centre bounce and their ruckman was competitive and gave them first use early and both at the start of the match and after every break they were energised for a period. Our weight of numbers and quality combined with strong conditioning would then come to the fore and see us dominate field position for the most part and the game was very much played in our half for extended periods.
With a development focus in mind, we used Captain Jack Hill in a midfield rotation with Josh Massie and Jason Cavuoto and this provided us with additional leadership on all lines. Aspen Davis provided us with some terrific energy and complimented Wieu well in the Ruck, allowing Cookie to take a key role down back. Harry Smith and Lenny continue to lead by example with gut running on the wings and Dion Bria is leading the Bull numbers with his work inside stoppages. Everyone again played their part and had their moments throughout the day. Lachie Tripodi and Hamish Schied were busy and composed across half back and gave us a fresh dynamic out of the defensive 50. Although clearances for the day were even, our Mids including those mentioned and combined with Sam Warren and The Matsis’s just proved overwhelming for Broadview, and they had no answers.
For the second time in 2025 we had 11 goalkickers, which is testament to our structure and ability to adjust inside forward 50 entry was pleasing, combined with a focus on scoring from better positions and the result was 24.8 which is an exceptional conversion %, particularly when compared to the main game score later in the afternoon. Our F1 footy in the Second and last terms was efficient at times kicking 8 and 9 goals in those 2 quarters alone. Jordan Huppatz was important for us all day with his continuous work rate and link avenue to goal and his assists were consistent and selfless. Jack MA Haddad showed he has another string to his defensive bow after hitting the scoreboard in the last term with 2 goals when resting forward after a run on ball.
Finally, we need to acknowledge the execution of Harvey Wilson in the role of the “Barometer” for this week. He nailed the essence of the role for the entire day and his footy grew another level off the back.

D Grade Match Report: Round 4 v Adelaide Uni Black
Rocs Academy hosted the undefeated Top of the ladder Adelaide Uni - black this round, with again fantastic footy conditions in the early morning clash.
The first half of the fast-paced contest saw Uni holding advantage with some brilliant team play as the Rocs applied themselves in patches and continued to work on our run & carry style of play with many forward opportunities but unfortunately couldn't find the way to goal.
1/2-time score Rocs 2-4 vs Uni-black 5-6.
The third stanza produced the best from both sides as Rocs were relentless in their efforts to provide options for the ball carrier and matched Uni's fluent ball movement for the full 22mins. Excellent finishing from both sides producing 7 goals for the qtr. 3/4-time score Rocs 5-4 vs Uni-black 9-8.
Rocs kept trying extremely hard to stay with the ladder leader’s, but our horrendous early season injury toll continued and limited any rotations as Uni-black powered away to a 44-point victory .
