A's B's C's vs Unley Jets & D's vs PAOC
All 4 Grades kicked off their 2021 season on Saturday.
The A/B/C teams were at home to Unley Mercedes Jets, whilst the D's were away to Princes. The club had solid wins in the first 3 grades, but the D's struggled against a superior PAOC.
Milestones: Ruckman Justin McInerney played his 50th game for the club. There were 20 (2/4/5/9) ROCS debutants through the grades, with the vast majority of players coming straight from the college. The number of players to have represented ROCS is currently 1444.
Nick Murphy is co-coach of the A's in 2021, alongside Will O'Malley. James Jordan is again captain, with Dan McCallum vice-captain. Ben Moyle/Elliot Shirley are in charge of the B's, Jarrod Varley/Tony Franzon/John Lewis the C's, and Steve Edwards the D's. Elliot is Captain of the B Grade - Josh Massie and Jack Draper are the Vice-Captains. Tim Lewis will captain the C's in 2021 and Steve Edwards' D Grade Captain is Steve Marotti and Vice-Captain Sam Tagg.

A Grade Report
The A Grade started their 2021 season off with a comfortable victory against Unley Jets on the weekend. The first half of football was very scrappy with Unley playing with plenty of numbers behind the ball.
In the second half Rocs started to take control around stoppage which helped with some cleaner entries inside forward 50 and despite some inaccurate goal kicking came away with a dominant victory 11.13 - 79 to 2.6 - 18.
Returning from a year at West Adelaide in the SANFL, Will Mead was fantastic across half back all day. New coach Nick Murphy was clearly the dominant forward on the ground, taking numerous contested marks and finished with 4 goals.
Luke Manuel looked very classy through the middle of the ground and Sam Jonas was his usual dominant self down back. Stefan Lanzoni, Tim Baccanello, Kieran Holland and Tullio Dematteis all contributed well throughout the day.
Next weekend we take on Adelaide University at Uni Oval. It's very important we build on our performance against Unley as we have plenty of room for improvement. We hope to see as many you as possible supporting the boys.

B Grade Report
The B grade opened their 2021 account with a pleasing four quarter effort to comfortably defeat Unley. Final scores (14/12 to 2/4)
It was a well-rounded team performance, better players included C. Ash who capitalised on having first use from our big men in the middle and around the ground, H. Simpson who’s pace and rebound from half back hurt the opposition and J. Sutcliffe who was dominant in the ruck. J Douperouzel, D Fitzsimons and F. Kernahan also played very well. There were four goal kickers in the 82 point victory which included T. McCormack & N. Dinham 4 goals each with A. Richter & D. Fitzsimons kicking 3 apiece.
Special thanks to David Moyle (team manager), Dan Gilbert (runner) and Ryan Holm in assisting new Coach Ben Moyle from the bench. Focus now for the B Grade turns to training this week and continuing to build momentum against UNI on the weekend.

C Grade Report
After a frustrating and very inaccurate first half with scores effectively level ROCS 1.7 to Unley 1.6, the young C grade managed to break away from Unley behind some more consistent play eventually running away 11.12 to 1.11.
Mitch Warren was best on ground getting the ball running especially in the second. Sam Dubios was very important and first use all day. Lachlan Spehr was part of a very strong defensive group. Debutant Adam Greenwood had a great first game for the club going forward in the second half and kicking 3 goals. Our Captain for 2021 Tim Lewis had a solid day in defence and Matthew Mezzini our best team man and rounded out a very good day to start the season for the C Grade
Congratulations to the 5 ROCS debutants Dylan Matthews, Jack Haddad, Adam Greenwood, Lewis Matsis and Jayden Smith, also congratulations go to Will Sullivan on his C Grade Debut and Justin McInerney on 50 Games for the club.

D Grade Report
The ROCFC Academy side started season 2021 with an early kickoff 10:15 away vs PAOC . Princes ended the ROCS Finals campaign in our last encounter. Since then our side has had a massive lineup change to start this new season with 9 Debutants & 4 returning players in the team donning the Red & Black Guernsey.
An even enough contest in the first stanza ended with Princes holding a 12pt lead. Rocs then had to chase opponents & a ballooning scoreline as PAOC. raced away with the game with dominant players across the park to set up a daunting 3/4 time scoreline of PAOC 9:11 vs ROCS 0:6 ....It should have been easy for Princes to bury a weary young Rocs lineup but to our players credit they all lifted workrates to again match our opponents efforts & hit the scoreboard late in the game with a long bomb from Anthony Cream. Final score PAOC 10:15 (75) vs ROCS 1:6 (13).
Great chance for our squad to regroup & improve our game as we prepare to take on competition heavyweights Golden Grove at Roc Park next weekend.
2 players that always standout with their endeavours & courage in every contest, with 110% or nothing attitudes Latch (Lachlan) Bowler & Simmo (Cpt Blood) Emanuel led by example all day & could only inspire their new teamates to greater endeavours.
Best players : H. Dawson, P. Russo, M. Zamparelli. D. Leonard, S.Warren, T.Versace. A.Cream
Goalkicker A.Cream
Special mention: J. Thoday, L. Fantarella.
