Week 3 - Preliminary Final
A Grade ROCS vs Payneham Norwood Union - Preliminary Final Report
After a disappointing defeat last week, ROCS were back at Daly Oval to face Payneham Norwood Union.
There was solid support for both clubs, and good playing conditions apart from a strong cross-breeze. We got away to a better start than last week, but inaccuracy in front of goal threatened to sabotage our chances. At the first break ROCS led 2.6 to 2.1, and after an even second quarter had extended the lead to 8 points. Then in an amazing third quarter ROCS sealed the match, booting 9.4 to 0.3. Both sides battled out the last quarter, with the final result being 15.13 to 6.11.
On a day when there were no passengers, our better players included Luke Manuel, Tim Baccanello (100th game), James Butterworth, Dan McCallum (100th game), Sam Jonas, Michael Coad (3 goals) and Paul Fantasia (3 goals, and Best Team Man).

ROCS now meet Tea Tree Gully on Saturday at Thebarton/Aldi Oval (2.30pm) in the 2018 premiership decider. After another very good year, one final obstacle remains for Coach Adrian Rocco and his charges.
Training will be at the Daly Oval (Tuesday) and Thebarton Oval (Thursday).
It is that time of the year once again for all Rocers to come out in force. We encourage the ROCS Army (Past Players/Officials/Volunteers and all Supporters) to get behind the players on Saturday, and help get them over the line.
