President's Report April 2011
After what has seemed to have been the longest pre-season in history, the season proper is upon us.
Thank you to all players, coaches and support staff for all your hard work and efforts over the pre-season to get to this point.
A great start to round 1 for the A grade - the first quarter was the best I’ve seen the team play in my time at the club - and a big win is a great way to start the year.
Welcome to coaching Glen Malkin. Unfortunately the B grade were dominated all day in all parts of the ground and this leaves Malcs and his boys with some soul searching before round 2 - no doubt the boys will rally and hit back and learn from the loss.
It’s good to see a very amped up Steve Edwards back coaching and his run down on the C grade thumping in the Gaza trial was very entertaining, I expect nothing less from Stevo and good luck for the year.
Many good things are happening around the club this year in what promises to be an exciting year. We have our memberships available and sales are going well. If you haven’t got one yet, do grab one so you’ll have your new polo to wear to games and support the ROCS.
We also have a premiership reunion and ROCS ball at the end of the season which should be the GALA event of the year.
Lastly there is a buzz around Thursday night dinners and the BBQs this year as Martha O’Connor and Lynn Castallano have taken on the apron and are dishing up a storm! The boys are loving it and we can’t thank them enough for everything they are doing -thanks Martha and Lynn for your excellent work
Hope to see you all at the games, please get around where you can and go the ROCS!

PS A great luncheon was held last Friday 1st April for the annual Cornes Toyota ROCFC President’s Lunch at The Alma 2011. Special thanks to our Guest Speaker - Redbacks opening batsman, KFC Big Bash Hero and Rostrevor Old Collegian Daniel ‘Doc’ Harris - this even made news on the SACA WEBSITE.
