Simmo to play game 400 this weekend
Club legend Simon "Simmo" Emanuele will play his 400th game for ROCS on the weekend,
against TTG at Campbelltown Memorial Oval (12:15pm)
The ROCS game record-holder made his debut in the opening round of the 1993 season. Now 48, he began his career before most of our current players were born.
A great clubman, he has also been an enthusiastic and hard working Treasurer since 2011. More recently he has been in charge of our Merchandising.
Simmo’s longevity has seen nicknames come and go, with “Tommy” being the nickname of choice for the first 100 games, before “Captain Blood” was ushered in, soon shortened to Blood, followed by Hambone, then shortened to Bone.
Simmo has represented ROCS in all four grades, and was awarded Player Life Membership of the SAAFL in 2004 after making 150 appearances.
He took out the 1997 C Grade B&F.
In 2007 he was named captain of the C Grade, and was Runner-up in the ROCS C1 Best and Fairest the following season.
Was awarded the Mosel Roberts Trimboli Award for outstanding on field achievement in 2014, and D Grade Most Courageous 2023.
Simmo captained the C Grade from 2009 - 2016.
The highlight of Simmo's playing career has been captaining the C1 side to a flag in 2013.
Not surprisingly he has been named "Best Team Man" on several occasions : 2007, 2012, 2014, 2015.
At the 2015 AGM he was named Life Member of the ROCFC.
He is only the second player in the club's history to play over 300 games - Brian Carey was the first to reach the 300 mark, and Paul Norris is now on 338 games.
The ROCFC congratulates Simmo on reaching the milestone, and hopes he will continue to wear the Red and Black jumper in 2025, and beyond.
