A Grade Match Report: Round 3 v PHOS Camden
We challenged ourselves at the beginning of the season to win away and while yesterday was a struggle we managed to find a way to win with a final quarter burst of our style and brand.
The game was littered with opportunities we had created but our connection and efficiency centre forward were off for most of the day. The Inside 50 count 53 to 35 told a tale that the game was played mostly in our front half but were unable to build the scoreboard pressure we had searched for all day.
The second quarter was a signature defensive display by our back 6 who work tirelessly to restrict our opponents to a zero-score outcome.
The final quarter saw our opponents hit the front for the first time in the game , but it was Stefan “ The Barometer “ Lanzoni who ignited the side with a burst of ten minutes where we dominated the play and with the aid of Jett Boxer, we went on kicking 4 goals 4 points for the quarter, putting the game to bed.
An “ Ugly Win” but a win on the road is a good day out. We move on to next week’s game.

B Grade Match Report: Round 3 v PHOS Camden
Another pleasing result away to a side that played finals in 2023 in the B and A grades.
Our effort this week was over the four quarters and as the previous two weeks we had all players playing their role which contributed to an over 20 goal victory.
Again, we started positively with great work in the middle by Dylan Reinbrecht, El Murada, Peter Vorrasi and Harrison Twiggs who gave great supply to our forwards who capitalised with Dylan Fitzsimmons using his pace and guile to get the first two goals of the match.
The midfield continued all match in getting us first hands on the ball – supported by Jonah Duperouzel Connor Butcher, Darci Richards and Jake Slivak.
Our defence was solid all match lead by Jackson Thomas and Hayden Swanbury – Jackson Petty and Darci Best (in particular his second half was brilliant) both lads played with great maturity.
Our forward lines worked well, as planned we opened the forward line up hence causing many more shots on goal – we had 8 goal scorers with was pleasing.
Terrific performances by three lads from the school this year – Matthew Brown kicking 4 goals at Full Forward and Ben Spehr kicking 4 goals from his pocket. Jake Slivak played most game time in the forwards also kicked 4 goals and Patty Baldwin also kicked 4.
Special mention also to Harrison Twiggs our Captain who rucked all day – and his second half was brilliant showing his courage and desire to lead this side.
Many best players and many players hitting the scoreboard is pleasing, but as I say each week still plenty of work to do – as we have only played 3 sides so far and 15 rounds of footy to go.
Final Scores ROCS 23-15 defeated PHOS 4-4
Best Players- Dylan Reinbrecht, Jake Slivak, Peter Vorrasi, Hayden Swanbury and El Murada.
Goal Kickers – Jake Slivak 4, Ben Spehr 4, Pat Balwin 4, Matthew Brown 4, Dylan Fitzsimmons 3, Dylan Reinbrecht 2, Brandon Jackson-Martin 1, Jonah Duperouzel 1.
See you all next week – for past players and volunteers’ day.

C Grade Match Report: Round 3 v PHOS Camden
After a very close loss against Goodwood Saints last week the boys bounced back with another strong performance. The boys in midfield got on top early with Stuart Greenslade and Adam Greenwood getting the ball forward and showing plenty of intensity around the ball. We dominated the inside 50’s and were peppering the scoreboard early. Our setup across half back from some of our leaders in James McGuinness & Jack Hill propelled most of our forward play. Lewis Matsis was particularly prominent early hitting the scoreboard and scooping up any loose balls in the forward 50.
Second quarter PHOS Camden fought back, and we didn’t adapt to playing against the wind for the first half of the quarter. Towards the second half of the quarter, we got back on top, with a couple of quick goals including a cracker outside 50 from Jason Cavuoto.
We kept the scoreboard pressure and intensity up in the second half. Jayden Smith provided plenty of run on the wing and was lethal with his Left boot whilst Lachie Hill was rock solid down back in his first win for the club. Ollie Piro and Ky Haddad were dangerous up forward kicking 2 & 3 goals.
The boys work in preseason showed as we overran PHOS and finished convincing winners. The most pleasing thing was seeing the team continue to work as a team and keep to the team structure despite the lopsided Scoreboard. It was great to contribute to the first ROCs ‘Rinse’ of the season!
Final Score: ROCS 17.15 (117) defeated PHOS 5.5 (35)
Best Players: Lewis Matsis, Adam Greenwood, Stuart Greenslade, Jayden Smith, Riordan McNamara, Lachie Hill, Olly Piro.
Goal Kickers: Adam Greenwood 3, Ky Haddad 3, Lewis Matsis 3, Stuart Greenslade 2, Olly Piro 2, Jarryd Ball 1, Jason Cavuoto, Dylan Matthews, Samuel Warren.

D Grade Match Report: Round 3 v Adelaide University
Fantastic football conditions again this week as the Rocs Academy hosted long-time foe Adelaide University.
Rocs were under extreme pressure early on as Uni were into attack and on the scoreboard, in a closely fought contest Rocs were playing with great teamwork and confidence and with unselfish forward movement made the most of our opportunities to hold a slender 5pt lead at 1/4 time. Rocs 3-1 vs Uni 2-2.
Rocs were able to absorb everything that Uni were dishing out & worked harder than our opponents with a fantastic display of team football, to totally control general play & with an open forward line booted 8-4 to Uni's 2-3 as the 3/4-time siren rang out... Rocs 11-5 vs Adelaide Uni 4-5.
Rocs endeavour & will to win kept our team well on top as the Rocs Academy piled on the goals & never let Uni back in the game , with a rare but commanding win giving the Rocs our first win for the campaign.
Final Scores: ROCS 17.10 (112) defeated Adelaide Uni 6.6 (42)
