C Grade 23 September August 2023 Grand Final Report

Welcome to our Grand Final addition. Wonderful win by the boys on Saturday I’m very happy for all concerned.

1st quarter:

Henley started well and to be honest I thought we’re on top of us. If it wasn’t for the back line I think we could have been in abit of trouble. I only played 7 players down back for the whole game. Daniel Franzon, Brad Warren and Vincent Clemente had the job on their smaller forwards and all three did the job to perfection. Max Mckay kept the leading goal kicker scoreless again and our 1/2 back line won us the match. Captain Lewis played the perfect captains game and Sam Warren was solid, Jack Hill was excellent. Make no mistake these guys won us the match.

2nd quarter.

I think this was our best , the mids started getting the ball Amer, Mitch Warren Josh Massie all lifted. Tom Hurley was as usual exceptional. Jayden Smiith along with Tom O’leary gave us the spark we needed. Rotation consisted of Ky Haddad, Darren Leggert, Zac Aufderheide and none disappointed when they got their chance. Justin McInerny again showed why he’s the best ruck in the comp. He was well supported by Daniel Cook who is one of the best club men I know.

3rd quarter:

Premiership quarter, again they come at us, with the warm conditions I thought they were a little quicker over the ground. We held strong and kept them to 1 goal till 3/4 time.

4th quarter:

Time for our forwards to stand and deliver, Nick Murphy with Paul Fantasia were pivotal to the win. Their leadership and attack on the ball was exceptional. Our small forwards in Nick Platten, Fabian Di lulio, and Jordon Huppatz did what they had to do when they got their chances. Dutchy Holland provided us the third tall up forward, and along with Scott Gilbert steadied the ship when we needed them.

Great win, great team effort.

Tom O’leary and Tom Hurley were clearly the best 2 for us Saturday.
