A Grade Report Round 16 v Adelaide University @ University

We have spoken all season about taking opportunities that we create. Saturday, we did just that. We knew it was going to be a tight contest with so much riding on the outcome for both sides.

The predicted script began to unfold early in the match with each side creating scoring opportunities. The difference was our efficiency, this allowed us to maintain a level of scoreboard pressure sufficient enough to maintain and build belief.

With the pressure dial turned to a season high the contest and conditions denied each team the ability to move the ball with any speed or efficiency.

After half time the game began to open up somewhat with each side gaining and holding periods of momentum which saw the margin at one stage get out to 22 points and then within the same time our opponents hit the front by 2 points. We responded and went into the final break up by 8 points.

The final quarter was a slog with our opponent again surging but again we responded with composure and maturity which produced two clutch goals from Beau Baldwin and one from Patrick Dawson which ensured the hard-fought win.

Stand out performances include the four-quarter effort from veteran Tim Baccanello who gave us drive from the midfield and polish in front of goals in a clutch moment.

Ryan Lymn who continues to develop as a key midfielder played a pure selfless game putting time into our opposition’s marquee player and nullifying his influence on the contest.

In the absence of one of our key talls Jett Boxer stood up in front of goals kicking 4 crucial goals without a miss and again established himself as the gold standard in pressure acts in our forward half.

Both Charlie Kemp and opportunist Stefan Lanzoni again stamped their authority on the game with some outstanding displays of contested marking and creativity up forward giving us numerous opportunities to score and significantly influencing the game’s outcome with their individual performances.

We take some more confidence from the game and again look to our next opportunity.

See you at the footy.

B Grade Report Round 16 v Adelaide University @ University

A very deserving win for us, I was really happy for the players as they have played very consistent footy this round, so it was good to get a positive result.

We started slowly but worked back in the game well which does show maturity in the group.

We have been working on certain aspects for all the players to follow, play your role and stay in the game all the time plus keep the positive voice, energy and spirit going no matter what the game is throwing up to us, its slowly coming together.

El Murada and Dylan Reinbrecht again performed brilliantly for us in the midfield and Adam Greenwood supported them well, and also worked hard in our forward lines.

Harrison Twiggs again rucked all day for us supplying the mids with some cleaver ruck work – also his only goal this year so far was good to see!!!!

Our defence again held up well with Frog McNamara featuring in the best but supported by Sam Hearn, Hugo Shute, Daniel Leonard, Dylan Huppatz and Jimmy McGuiness,  our defenders have played consistent footy all year so deserve a mention.

Lewis Matsis up forward played his role well extremely well.

A very special mention to Will Mead who got back from an overseas trip on Saturday morning and put his hand up to play, much to the delight of our side, as we a very young unit and to have Meady play for us creates enthusiasm around our side – many thanks Meady.

Final Scores ROCS 9-11 (65) def Adel Uni 5-9 (39)

Best Players – Murada, Reinbrecht, Greenwood, Matsis, McNamara.

Goal Kickers – 2/Snowball 1each- Fitzsimmons, Olly Piro, Murada, Matthews, Twiggs, Reinbrecht, Matsis.

C Grade Report Round 16 v Adelaide University @ University

Unfortunately, our worst loss of the season.

We started like bulls out of a gate. Amer and Nick Platten were on fire. We stretch out to an 18-point lead 1/2 way thru the second, but Uni had some very talented old heads. They went the biff and unfortunately, we got sucked in.

The game changed very quickly and multiple entries into our forwards were repelled.

You cannot miss the target or you’ll pay-the price , and that’s what happened. Poor kicking and poor decision-making cost us dearly. We got absolutely smashed on the rebound and they scored easily.

Due to unforeseen problems we had to throw the magnets around. Clemente went forward and battled hard, Brad Warren was moved to CHB to try and steady the ship.

Fanta played a solo roll up forward and at times had 3 on him, does make me wonder where our players are. Max McKay went to full back was sensational and Ky Haddad back from B grade duties did not disappoint.

We got to within four points in the last quarter, but two poor kicks forward cost us with two rebound goals. Game over.

Very disappointing loss, as always can’t fault, effort or endeavour by the lads but we were outclassed by a very mature unit in Uni.

We still sit third on the ladder but now everything becomes a must win.

Final Scores: ROCs 8-10 def by Adelaide Uni 11-7

Goal Kickers: Fantasia 2, Leggett 2, Ky Haddad, Clemente, Platten, Amer

Best Players: Ky Haddad, Max McKay, Paul Fantasia, Brad Warren, Clemente

Rocs on the road this week taking on fierce rivals Adelaide Uni in a blockbuster round with all our teams playing at the same venue. Inspired by 1st time Captain Rocs Legend Sam (the DILF) Bridge our bundled together side managed to play with determination and teamwork matching every challenge from Uni in a fast-paced 1st term. LOSA V Edwardstown - Round 14 Match Report

We played away this week against Edwardstown and 2022 Div 6 Premiers. A winner to either side meant something. A win to Edwardstown meant a potential finals position, while a win to us meant finishing top of the ladder and a potential home final. We knew it was going to be a big game.

A strong start by had us controlling the play with four scoring opportunities early. We were able to convert one through Beth Ince while Edwardstown made a fast break through the middle to put our defensive game under pressure. A goal to Edwardstown forward for the boundary had given them a confidence boost. Repeat entries had our backline under fire. Emma Wycherleys decision making to leave her player and attack the ball or contest was excellent, as she won her battles each time.

The second quarter had evened out as Edwardstown put on more pressure and moved the ball forward at pace and by linking mids and forwards. LOSA had to become more defensive to slow the transitions. Our forward transition forward was met with more contested work, however movement was still positive, as the team found their way through. Pressure on the kicker often meant quick kicks, but the forwards worked hard to convert. Alice Harris kicked a goal in play and under pressure, while Sophie Haines converted a nice set shot. Our two goals were met with Edwardstowns three goals, as they picked their way through our defensive game and as some of our intensity had dropped off. Half time we were 1-point down.

Both teams has tightened up defensively, the contested intensity had increased, with a tug of war type game for field position played out. LOSA’s defensive game had improved with Hilary Campbell standing out with intercept marks an controlling the backline. Only 1-point was scored in the quarter and that went to LOSA.

Scores were even, and a big 17 minutes was requested by all players. As we looked  hold the intensity of of defensive game but also continue to created movement and run for our movement forwards and within the forward 50. LOSA took there intensity to another level and connected well around the contest, supported each other with some selfless acts, increased running while creating space and time forward through movement. Hannah Osborn worked tirelessly with fellow mid Bella Simpson to win the ball. A second goal by Beth Ince gave LOSA some breathing space, while Minnie Turner found herself with an opportunity at the end of some hard running to run into goal and kick her own and sealing the win.

It was a good contest by both teams, but it was LOSA’s players ability to lift when needed and play our brand of team defence, high intensity and quick ball movement that manage to win the game. All players should be applauded for their intent, even when it was tighter, they kept the heads and found their opportunities and converted.

LOSA 5.7(37) defeated v Edwardstown 4.1 (25)

Goals: 2 Bethany Ince, 1 Sophie Haines, 1 Alice Harris, 1 Minnie Turner

Best Players: Hilary Campbell, Emma Wycherley, Hannah Osborn, Bella Simpson, Bethany Ince
