A Grade Report Round 15 v PHOS Camden @ Campbelltown

Heading into Saturday’s game, we knew there was plenty riding on the result. Training during the week had been solid with the players sensing the occasion as well as keen to respond from the result earlier in the season.

While our first quarter and ‘fast start’ again eluded us, there were some promising signs at the first break despite the scoreboard deficit. Belief and Trust our big in football and there was a clear indication at the break once we had regrouped that we had plenty of it.

Our second and third quarters demonstrated the clear belief and determination to trust each other as we piled on 9 goals over the two quarters with numerous opportunities being created to score. Unfortunately, a minor lapse in ‘ red time ‘ in the third which allowed our opponents to score 3 very quick goals, bridging the gap we had established and leaving a 2-point margin at the final break.

The pressure dial was activated to a new level in the final quarter in what was a highly contested final quarter with plenty at stake. Some inspiration from first year player in Max Daw who kicked two stirring goals was enough to get us over the line by 7 points.

Matt Dnistrainsky who made another cameo appearance for us was clearly the best player on the ground, providing us with numerous counter attacks from our back half. His ball use and leadership was elite all day. Stefan Lanzoni proved again how valuable his contribution was with three goals and countless selfless acts which gave us opportunities to score.

Tim Baccanello and Ryan Lymn through the midfield and up forward were both creative and courageous all day, holding and nullifying our opponent’s elite midfield. Both Max Daw and Tom McCormack each providing our opponents back 6 a Saturday afternoon nightmare each kicking 3 crucial goals.

As mentioned, a critically important result for us and one we must continue to build from as we head into our next opportunity.

Final Score : ROCFC 12.7 (79) defeated PHOS Camden 10.12 (72)

Goal Kickers : S. Lanzoni 3, T. McCormack 3, M. Daw 3, J. Slivak 2, J. Warton 1

Best Players: M. Dnistriansky, S. Lanzoni, C. Kemp, R. Lymn, M. Daw

See you at the footy.

B Grade Report Round 15 v PHOS Camden @ Campbelltown

What do you do when you draw? Do you say that’s one that got away or was the result fair?

All I can say is I’m very proud of the team’s effort for the third week in a row we played a top four side, and equipped ourselves very well and met the challenge head on.

Our defence was stunning all day – and our midfield lead by El Murada who is having a great season and Dylan Reinbrecht coming from the A’s performed to the highest level. Lewis Matsis also continues his consistent form in the midfield and playing a high forward roll.

Harrison Twiggs rucked all day which is normal for him, again performed well – also his leadership on the field is fantastic. As mentioned before our defence was brilliant with Riordan McNamara, Jimmy McGuiness, Sam Hearn and Hugo Shute all having good games.

As we all know our list has been challenged in all grades throughout the year but more so the last few weeks, I would like to thank and acknowledge all players for their efforts in every grade and especially some who have played two games to help out Stevo’s side – WELL DONE.

Final Scores ROCs 7-11 drew with PHOS 7-11

Best Players:  – Murada, Reinbrecht, McNamara, McGuiness, and Twiggs.

Goals Scorers:  2/ Reinbrecht, 1 each – Matthews, Ky Haddad, Cavuoto, and Jordan Huppatz.

C Grade Report Round 15 v PHOS Camden @ Campbelltown

A very solid performance by the C grade this week. I thought PHOS were better than the score reflected.

We were always in control of the match. Again, selection had its challenges but through support from the D grade we put a team on the park. Credit to the win goes the guys such as Munchenburg, Shanahan, McDonald, Condo, Manish, Tom Evans, Sianis and Josh Piantadosi who have come up to assist us in numbers, and all played a significant role in our win. These guys played for us then backed up and played D grade later, true ROCer spirit and I salute you all.

As I said at the beginning while we lead all day PHOS were at us all the time. Amer came back to us and gave us extra bite, and of course what is there to be said with Paul Fantasia’s game he was excellent bagging a lazy 6.

Mitch Warren continues to rack up medal points and I think he can bank another 3.

Sam Warren was exceptional in the midfield and got plenty first looks at the ball due to Daniel  Cook’s domination in the ruck.

Again, our back line was magnificent. Our structure holds well due to great leadership from Vince Clemente who was impassable Saturday.

Our captain Tim Lewis lead from the front again and holds the backline together, we threw him it to the ruck for a period of time and didn’t disappoint.

As said a solid performance. We now can’t miss the finals; the team is progressing well.

Uni away this week another big game we are getting very excited about what’s ahead.

Get on board.

Final Score: ROCs 13-15 def PHOS 2-6

Goal Kickers: Fantasia 6, Leggett 2, M Warren, S Warren, Condo, McDonald.

Best Players: M Warren, S Warren, Lewis, Fantasia, Clemente.

D Grade Report Round 15 v Modbury @ Campbelltown

Rocs Academy hosted the C8 ladder leaders Modbury Hawks in a twilight fixture as the challenges keep mounting for our players this season. Once again Rocs were adding to our playing list late in the day & managed to gather 20 combatants to don the Red& Black colours. Very proud of the 73 individuals who have represented our squad so far this campaign as they have all tried their best in every game so far and played out each match to the final siren regardless of the scoreline. Modbury were on the scoreboard straight away & kept the pressure on our team throughout the first half as Rocs battled hard but could not make the most of our forward opportunity's. The Hawks taking control & holding a 56pt advantage at the long break.  Our situation did not improve as the injuries started to increase in a physical contest , leaving us with only 16 fit enough on the ground for most of the second half. Modbury took advantage of the situation to run away with a commanding win.

Final scores Rocs 0-4(4) def by Modbury 19-14(128)

Best players- L. Thoday, M. Augustine, S. Bridge, M. Lombardi, A. Massie, S. Bowler.

Best team man - M. Dzido.

Fantastic efforts from the 5 players who helped out playing 2 games of football for our club this week.

LOSA vs Woodville South - R13

We played away for Round 13, and we knew third placed Woodville South were going to throw down a good challenge.

This week we discussed training and playing as if it’s finals. We we wanted to focus on doing the hard work early. Being 1st to the ball and putting ourselves in the best positions on field first. We knew pressure was going to be the deciding factor, who applied to most pressure and who dealt with it the best.

Pleased with our first quarter, we started strong with our ability to win the ball, not allow our opposition defenders to set up with quick ball movement out of the contest. Issy Burdon came out of the blocks using the width of Ledger Oval to her advantage. She took on the opposition with her run and carry as she bounced her way towards goals. A goal to Bethany Ince had us finish the quarter eight points to nil.

By the second quarter, we were able to control the speed of the game, however, we missed some goal scoring opportunities to really make an impact. Hannah Osborn and Stephanie Principe worked tirelessly on ball and assisted the team winning clearances. Another strong performance by the duo.

The third quarter was similar to the second. Congestion in our forward line made it difficult as Woodville South were playing an additional defender. Much of the game was played in our forward half.

With only nine points separating the teams, we needed to add to our tally quickly, as it was not enough if Woodville South got a run on. Following some positional changes we were able to score our second goal through Emilie Hasler. Another standout performance from Hilary Campbell, who was given the task of standing Woodville South’s leading goal scorer, and kept her goalless. This was further supported by our over all team attack and defence, pressure. The final score had us as the 16 point winners.

This win was very important to our final position at the end of the minor rounds, with only way game to go against Div 6 reigning premiers next week.

LOSA 2.6(18) defeated Woodville South 0.2(2).

Goals: Bethany Ince 1, Emilie Hasler 1.

Best: Issy Burdon, Emilie Hasler, Hannah Osborn, Stephanie Principe, Hilary Campbell
