A Grade Report Round 10 v Salisbury North @ Campbelltown
It’s often said the scoreboard is a reflection of the game. Saturday we faced our round 1 opponent keen to reverse the tables however at the sounding of the final siren the scoreboard did reflect the result but it “did” and “did not” reflect our performance.
In typical July conditions we matched our opponents in all of the key indicators we use to measure our performance to three quarter time. The difference quite simply was our opponent used the ball more efficiently, found targets and finished in front of goal. The three quarter time score board stood at 14 scoring shots for each side. The score deficit was 30 points.
Inefficient ball use and countless turnovers by foot and hand, challenging decisions with the ball combined with our inability to finish in front of goal was frustrating and extremely draining over this period of the game. We failed to take our opportunities and get reward for effort.
Charged with a significant challenge heading into the final quarter we knew what was required but failed to execute key fundamentals which gave further control to our opponents who ran away with the win.
Critically an extremely disappointing outcome and one which burns but one we must and will learn from to continue our growth.
Final Score: ROCFC 6.11 (47) defeated by Salisbury North 15.6 (96)
Best Players: F. Kernahan, C. Kemp, J. Butterworth, R. Lymn, D. Reinbrecht
Goal kickers: F. Kernahan 2, J. Boxer 2, R. Lymn 1, S. Lanzoni 1.

B Grade Report Round 10 v Salisbury North @ Campbelltown
A big day for the club on and off the field, celebrating re-unions off the field with a total 5 premierships on Saturday night and important games for all grades.
Unfortunately for the B grade we just failed to get the job done – against Salisbury North who sit third on the ladder.
We played some exciting football at times but just can not put together a consistent effort for the four quarters. That said we are growing confidence that at our best we can compete with any side in the competition.
What the playing group has now grasped if we play to the “system” and “hang in there” we will produce the desired results.
In a close match, in which I thought we were the better side on the day we had a lot of players who played well.
Our backlines are playing well – so special mention to Jimmy McGuiness, McNamara, and Hugo Shute for their four quarter efforts, also Luke Cogswell second half was fantastic.
Jackson Thomas effort deserves a special as his game was brilliant – Jackson as I have mentioned before has come from the school this year, he has already developed into a very reliable defender and has grown as a player each week, he is one of many young players who I believe are the future of this club.
Our mid field lead by Jake Slivak, El Murada and Harrison Twiggs also gave a consistent four quarter effort.
One aspect of our game in which we need to improve is putting pressure on the opposition defence – Adam Greenwood has been a player who we specifically have put in the forward lines to do that roll and his effort on Saturday was great.
FINAL SCORES ROCs 5-7 (37) def by Salisbury North 5-8 (38)
Best – Jackson Thomas, Jake Slivak, El Murada, Adam Greenwood, Harrison Twiggs
Goal Kickers – Pat Baldwin 2, 1 each Lewis Matsis, Adam Greenwood, Dylan Huppatz

C Grade Report Round 10 v Salisbury North @ Campbelltown
Good first quarter, but we had an absolute shocking second term but for once I kept my cool. We reset the second half a few positions changed, and the boys didn’t disappoint with an 11 goal second half. As in wins like this everyone contributes, and all played well. Felix Brasher and Manish Augustine debut for us and were both exceptional, welcome onboard to the lads.
Cook dominated CHB and Jordan Huppatz was our go to forward and was very good. J Mac dominated the ruck again, but it was Tim Lewis who excited as he filled a shortage in our midfield. Mitch Warren continues his medal winning form and dominated all around the ground.
An excellent performance under the circumstances well done to all, Chis Platten will look after the team for a few weeks while I have a break from the rigorous coaching duties.

D Grade Report Round 10 v Pembroke @ Pembroke
Rocs on the road this week taking on Pembroke King's in great football conditions. Our side bolstered with the addition of some Rocs Royalty as Sam Bridge, Luke Du Bois & Craig Fabian pulled on the Red& Black colours one more time to help out our developing squad. The first half of an evenly contested match up had both sides working hard to create ascendancy on the scoreboard.
Rocs kept up the pressure around contested possession & had some great moments of fluent play, booting accurately on goal to set up a 1pt lead at 1/2 time.
1/2 time scores Rocs 6-1 leading Pembroke 5-6.
Rocs tried their best to keep up with Pembroke during the second half but ran out of steam overall. Some great efforts by the Rocs who are playing in new positions the last few weeks as injuries have been devastating to our on ball division & our squad has stood up to the challenge. Final scores Rocs 8-4(52) def by Pembroke 11-8(74)

Round 9 Match Report - LOSA vs North Haven
Only percentage separated us from 1st placed North Haven and 2nd place Woodville South leading into Round 9. We needed to immediately bounce back from our loss against Modbury in order to challenge the ladder leaders, North Haven who we previously lost to in Round 2. There was a lot riding on this game, as it was a chance to prove where we currently sit in the competition. A win would get us a game clear and a top two spot. But a loss would see us slip to 3rd place and only 1-point ahead of Modbury and 3-points ahead of Edwardstown. It was a game of high risk, high reward.
The team started strong, controlling much of the play and field position. First to the ball, with second and third efforts were important. Amelia Kelly came out of the blocks to dominate hit outs, working with the midfield. Her efforts around the ground backed up ruck work, often providing a tall target. Fellow key player Emilie Hasler was looking dangerous again this week, with her leading patterns and physicality. Earning herself opportunities for shots on goal, resulting in two goals in quick succession in the first quarter.
Our backline again stood strong, as North Haven tried to break through. Numerous forward entries from winning clearances and turnovers was a positive this week. However North Haven dropped a player back to slow up scoring opportunities in the second quarter. This didn’t stop Sophie Haines, leading up and providing a marking target was crucial to our ability to rebound from the back half, to the forward half.
Steph Principe and Hannah Osborne teamed up with Bella Simpson to win contested ball from the middle. Principe has been developing her ability to attack the football, while also tasked with key lock down / defensive mid roles, and this week she did both. Osborne has used her ability to read the play and find time and space to clear the ball, but also become a link between the backline and forward line. While Simpson again provided a touch of class around the ball, while being versatile when needed. She often creates opportunities where there was none. The third quarter became difficult to score against North Haven, who were well positioned in our forward half.
Some missed shots on goal, kept North Haven in the game in a low scoring affair. The final quarter we tried to manufacture some more goals, but after another goalless quarter from both sides the game finished in our favour by 16-points.
Really proud of how the team responds each week when given a challenge, and a new focus. We discuss the positive and room for improvement aspects as part of our Monday night reviews, and then look to keep developing our skills and experience as a team.
