A Grade - R6 Report
Falling short again by less than a goal can provide for the usual series of “what if’s”. But these are not the take home messages from the game.
The take home message sits simply with in the games raw description. We play a “four quarter game “ which demands we sustain a consistent focused four quarter performance.
Saturday’s game despite winning the scoreboard across three quarters during which we displayed a strong hard running brand of football full of contributions from every player we left the door ajar at the start of the third, dropped our focus and control of the ball which allowed our opponent to take control of the game for 20min.
To our playing groups credit their effort and intent to respond in the final quarter was another positive sign however we were unable to take many of the opportunities we had created.
A bitter pill to swallow but a game we must learn from and use to continue our growth.
There were strong Individual performances across the game, James Butterworth continues his strong month with a standout game leading the ruck and giving our mids first use. His final quarter was Herculean.
James Warton put on a masterclass of clearance work through the midfield and worked hard defensively to created numerous opportunities for the side.
Luke Manuel gave us plenty of rebound from half back and instructional guidance to our young side.
First year player Beau Baldwin’s skill, élite decision making and pressure acts gave us spark through the midfield and up forward.
Ryan Lymn, recently announced as the player of the month is gaining a reputation as a hard tagger, he has gone to the oppositions best players across many of our games this season, with Saturday going to the 2021,2022 Div 2 medalist keeping him quite for 4 quarters and winning plenty of the ball.
A “tough result” but one we must learn from and quickly move on to next weeks new opportunity.

B Grade Report Round 6 v PHOS Camden @ Camden Oval
Final Scores: ROCS 5-10 def by PHOS Camden 9-13
Even though we had talked about this previously our main aim as a team was to start fast and challenge the opposition on their own turf.
To the credit of the players that is what we did – parts of the game were played on our terms but we were not able to sustain that for the four quarters, which is now what we are looking to do going forward.
Positives for the game were – our efforts are good with enthusiasm and energy plus our efforts to challenge the opposition with fast play.
We will get there with better disposals and our final execution into our forward line.
We had six changes from last week – and I would like to highlight that the players that came up from the C grade performed well which was heartening.
We again had the challenge of injuries to players – loosing Olly Piro before ½ time and Jake Slivak late in the game affected our rotations.
Two of our best players Max Dax and Jackson Thomas were from school last year which all goes well for the future, both lads have fitted into senior footy comfortably, and have embraced the footy club really well.
Stuart Greenslade played his best game for us this year, Jake Slivak and Tom Snowball continue their good form.
Others to do well were Hugo Shute at full back and Adam Greenwood as a pressure forward.
Best players – Max Daw, Jackson Thomas, Stuart Greenslade, Jake Slivak and Tom Snowball.
Goal Kickers – Tom Snowball 2, Max Daw 1, Ky Haddad 1, Pat Baldwin 1,

A clinical performance by “The C Train”today. Two goals were set that was to kick 20 goals, and to hold them scoreless. We achieved 1/2 so not bad. Magnificent team effort all over the ground. Back line started it all with Clemente and Cookie great contributors. Tommy O’leary and Nick Platten played their best games of the year for us thus far and L Matsis continues racking up the disposals.
Fresh from his UFC bout , we welcome back Nick Shied for his 50th game and he didn’t disappoint.
The Jacks, Draper and Hill were fantastic down back and the captain Lewis was a major contributor. Whether in ruck or at CHB he leads by example.
Two new golden ticket players joined us for the first time and were more than welcomed. Fanta up forward grabbed everything his way, he stepped up even further when Dutchy had to pull the pin do to an ankle strain. Tom Hurley was fantastic in the middle and up forward. Both players are great additions to the squad.
Huge game this week Adelaide Uni at home for ladies day.

Rd 6 had Rocs Academy side hosting last season's C8 premier Henley Sharks. Henley played an attacking team game that had the Rocs chasing jumpers to set up a handy 17pt lead by the end of the first stanza. Much better application from Rocs had the team matching the Sharks around the contested ball, despite having injuries to important playmakers the Rocs outscored Henley booting 4-4 to the Sharks 4-1 by 3/4 time. 3/4 time scores Rocs 4-6 trailing Henley 7-2.
Rocs kept working hard but could not make up the difference between the two sides. Although beaten on the scoreboard our side never gave in & ended up having more scoring shot's.
Final scores Rocs 5-11(41) def by Henley 12-3(75)

R5 - LOSA Report
In an away night game, the team started strongly and were able to maintain a majority of the play in our forward half. Hannah Osborn found plenty of the football early, winning both contested balls and also delivering into our forward 50. The first goal came from Emilie Hasler who was front centre of a contest in the square. Salisbury were strong defensively, and were able to intercept our quick kicks forward. Jana Ivancic in her second game for the season, went forward and had an immediate impact, kicking two goals in the second quarter. The backline held our defensive structure, minimising opposition forward entries. Sarah Catterwell read the ball well and had a number of intercept marks, while Poppy Scaife provided plenty of dash at half back and then in the midfield later on. Sophie Haines was creative through forward movement and taking on her defender. The second half was goalless as both teams really had to battle it out for scoring opportunities. Minnie Turner had a great second half on the wing utilising her speed to get around players and transition forward. Both teams struggled to break through the oppositions backline in a highly contested second half. The team had to grind out the game to maintain the lead and take the points.
The players got the job done away in a tough game. Although a little scrappier than our usual game style, we acknowledge the efforts the players put in to get the win, and then look to tighten up as we approach top side Woodville South this coming Friday night.
Special mention to Jessica LeMire in her first game, who sparked forward opportunities.
LOSA 3.8(26) defeated Salisbury North 0.1(1)
