A Grade Report Round 4 v Golden Grove @ Campbelltown
There is only one way to describe today’s game and that is it was a disappointing performance.
Heading into the game with our youngest side for the season, which included debutant Beau Baldwin we were full of confidence following last week’s narrow loss.
Taking nothing away from Golden Grove who are clearly one of the benchmark sides in the competition we were simply unable to execute for long enough and take the opportunities which we had created.
The final quarter fade out which resembled our round 1 outing is of concern and something we must address as we head into our next two games both of which are away.
That said there were some positives from the game, our third quarters remain our best across the season to date. Our ball movement and willingness to shift the ball during this stage of Saturday’s game gave us momentum and created many scoring opportunities.
Our back 6 continued their strong form as a group repelling many of the opposition’s entries, Kane Cini and Dan McCallum in particular were solid all day.
Saturday saw a welcome return to Patrick Dawson to the goal kickers list kicking 4 goals as a small forward and looking dangerous for most of the afternoon.
James Butterworth was the standout player for us on Saturday soldering on as our main ruckman pushing the ball to our advantage from stoppage and taking numerous intercept marks around the ground.
Like all games we must and will take plenty of learnings from the game to continue to develop and build our connection and game style.
Final Scores: ROCs 8.9 (57) def by Golden Grove 19.13 (127)
Best Players: J. Butterworth, J. Warton, D. McCallum, P. Dawson & K. Cini
Goal Kickers: P. Dawson 4, T. McCormack 2, J. Boxer & F. Kernahan 1 each
See you at the footy.

B Grade Report Round 4 v Golden Grove @ Campbelltown
A disappointing day as the result would suggest.
Even though the first quarter was not the start we planned for we were competitive finishing the quarter 2 goals down. In the second quarter the opposition kicked 6 unanswered goals, in this quarter we simply collapsed under their pressure plus we were smashed in the KPIs.
We reset in third quarter making multiple changes which worked, we kept them goal less and in turn kicked two goals ourselves. Unfortunately, then the fourth quarter repeated our efforts in the second resulting the opposition kicking 7 unanswered goals. We have work to do in improving our disposal with hand and foot under pressure and under little pressure.
It was a game where it was somewhat difficult to find best players – but two of our midfielders in Harry Wright and Tom Snowball tried hard all day as again our rotations were compromised in second quarter with Tom Cusack sustaining a season ending ankle injury.
Luke Cogswell on the wing and on ball was good and Jacob Scutella played a good game in the forward lines and then finished the game in defence.
Dylan Huppatz made his B grade debut, and the way he played suggests he belongs in the two’s.
Jason Cavuoto and Olly Piro also played well in parts.
Final Scores: ROCs 4.5 (29) def by Golden Grove 17.13 (115)
Best Players: Harry Wright, Tom Snowball, Luke Cogswell, Jacob Scutella, Dylan Huppatz.
Goals Kickers: Tom Cusack 2, Dylan Matthews 1, Jarrad Ball 1.

C Grade Report Round 4 v Golden Grove @ Campbelltown
Today was always going to be a challenge. Golden Grove will be among the mix this season. We started very well and again the game should have been iced by quarter time.
We kicked 3-7 in the first and really should have been 8-2. But bad kicking is bad football.
However, we lead all day with Our mids in Amer Elhosni and Ky Haddad dominating and Nick Murphy up forward kicking 4-7. Our backline has been sensational this year conceding no more than 16 goals total thus far. Shannon Castellano and Sam Warren lead the way down back, with Kieran Holland joining us for the first time giving us a second target up forward.
Justin McInerney dominated the ruck again and Jayden Smith was again brilliant.
I can’t fault our endeavour and our toughness at the contest. A great start by all concerned. This week we venture to Shark Park and take on Henley. This team hasn’t been defeated in over 2 years. I can guarantee we will give it a massive crack and love as many supporters to come see things unfold.
Get aboard the C Train.
Final Scores: ROCs 9.18 (72) def Golden Grove 5.4 (34)
Best Players: Jayden Smith, Sam Warren, Justin McInerney, Kieran Holland & Shannon Carrick-Castellano
Goal Kickers: Nick Murphy 4, Kieran Holland 2, Scott Gilbert, Ky Haddad & Paddy Baldwin 1 each.

D Grade Report Round 4 v Flinders Park @ Flinders Park
Rocs on the road this week travelling to Flinders Park.
Another great day for football started with Parks constantly creating attacking forward plays with Rocs backline holding up under pressure. Parks dominance of the aerial contests & structure around contested possession was too good for Rocs to match as they finished the qtr. on top in all areas, 1/4-time scores - Rocs 1-1 trailing Flinders Pk 2-3.
After some changes & refocusing of our game plan Rocs kept the ball moving & ran into space taking control of the contest and stormed forward to lead by the long break. Inspired by Josh Piantadosi's goal of the year candidate finally breaking a succession of behinds Rocs were up & about . 1/2-time scores -Rocs 3-6 vs Flinders Pk 2-5.
The second half began with Flinders Park taking the contest away from Rocs & were far too good overall on the day. Unfortunately, Rocs couldn't sustain our game plan & could only add 4pts to our total.
Final scores - Rocs 3-10(28) lost to Flinders Pk 7-7(49)
Goalkickers- S.Tagg -1, J. Piantadosi -1, J. Thoday -1
Best players - J. Piantadosi, S. Tagg, B. Warren, M. Dzido, J.L. Haddad.
Best team man - W. McDonald.

LOSA Report Round 4 v Kilburn @ Campbelltown (Under Lights)
Separated by percentage only, we knew we needed to play our best game yet to beat Kilburn. A twilight game, in front of a home crowd in perfect conditions. The stage was set for a true battle.
Both teams started strong around the contest, but we were able to apply more pressure causing turnovers. We hunted the loose ball and initial congestion, turned into quick transitions through strong midfield clearances. Kilburn looked strong overhead. The first quarter ended with two goals through LOSA’s Olivia Law and Emilie Hasler, while Kilburn kicked one of their own.
The second quarter was another battle as Kilburn’s half back intercepted many of our forward entries. While our backline worked hard to return the favour. The pressure was on as Kilburn built a convincing wall on their forward 50 eventually scoring two goals from repeat entries. Minnie Turner, Issy Burdon and Bella Simpson used their speed to run and deliver the ball deep inside forward 50. Midfielder Poppy Scaife took her opportunity in the forward line to sneak a goal on the outside of her boot. By halftime our lead had reduced to 4-points. Pressure was on.
We knew we needed to improve in our aerial contests, run and spread across the ground. We improved our team pressure, and often had 2-3 players often tackling at once. Although undersized against Kilburn’s ruck, Amelia Kelly held her own in the middle and around the ground. Bella Simpson continued to work hard with supporting and transitioning forward, as well as provide aerial support for defenders. Olivia Herde finished the quarter with two goals, one from a strong pack mark on the goal line. Emilie Hasler presented well and kicked her second. A strong 17-point lead at three quarter put us in a good position.
The final 17-minutes was much like the previous, as the team finished strong. Defenders Sarah Catterwell and Erini Vathoulkas intercepted the ball off halfback to keep Kilburn to 1 goal. Alice Harris put a block on so Sophie Haines had time to kick long towards goal, with the ball going through untouched. Defender Hilary Campbell matched up on the current division 5 leading goal kicker, winning the contested balls and transitioning from defence.
Bella Simpson kicks a goal off the back of her hard work, and the final goal of the night went to Issy Burdon from a set shot.
The 29-point win does not highlight just how hard the game was. It took all players to commit and play a four-quarter team game.
LOSA 9.5 (59) defeated Kilburn 5.0 (30)
Best Players: Poppy Scaife, Bella Simpson, Amelia Kelly, Sarah Catterwell, Olivia Law
Goal Kickers: 2 Emilie Hasler, 2 Olivia Herde, 1 Issy Burdon, 1 Sophie Haines, 1 Poppy Scaife, 1 Olivia Law, 1 Bella Simpson
