A Grade Report – Round 14
The A grade ventured to Park 9 to take on last year’s premiers in Prince Alfred OC. With several changes again to the line up due to injury and illness we went into the game feeling confident and upbeat that we could rebound from the last couple of weeks.
The first quarter saw ROCs play some good constructive football and moved the ball well into our attacking zones which saw Lewis McCormack take some strong marks and kicked truly to have a couple of early goals on the board. We controlled most of the quarter and gave Princess very few opportunities.
Qtr. Time: ROCs 3.2 PAOC 1.0
The second quarter was again a pretty good performance kicking into the breeze and holding ground around the stoppages and defending well. We had the first goal on the board and led by 18 pts, however, Princes started to find more of the ball and began moving the ball quickly and into open space to find loose players in their attacking 50, they quickly scored a couple of goals which got them back into the game. We continued to attack strongly and unfortunately missed several opportunities inside our 50 which are costly in games like this when it’s tight and scoring isn’t easy. Unfortunately, we lost Tim Baccanello to injury late in this quarter but went into the half time break with the game in the balance.
Half Time: ROCs 4.3 PAOC 4.3
We didn’t start the second half as we did the match and let Princes take control early on and they made us pay dearly. We started to lose stoppages and the centre square which put enormous pressure on our young defence who battled hard but were out muscled and we struggled to find a path out of defence. This meant the ball spent most of the quarter in the opposition’s half. We lost James Warton during this stanza who tried valiantly to remain out on the field but in the end “Warbs” had his way and Jimmy was put on ice.
3 Qtr. Time: ROCs 4.3 PAOC 10.5
The final quarter was much the same as the third in that we couldn’t get any movement or control of the ball around the ground and with Princes running freely and under very little pressure we found it difficult to even go forward. Unfortunately, we again lost further players to injury in the last with Swanny coming off with a head knock and Carbs suffering a season ending knee injury which is devastating for Carbs and the club as he has had a great year in defence, we finished the game with 17 fit players.
Final Scores: ROCs 4.4 PAOC 16.8
Best Players: James Butterworth, Josh Massie, Peter Vorrasi, Paddy Dawson & Lewis McCormack
Goal Scorers: Lewis McCormack 2, Paul Fantasia 1 & James Butterworth 1
We have a week off this Saturday which is much needed for not only those carrying injuries but for a majority of the players who are sore and in need of some rest. We look forward to the challenge in a couple of weeks against Payneham away.

B Grade Report – Round 14
Generally, a disappointing day for our football club. Even though we started the game with good intent and effort we were beaten by a better side on the day.
Scores did not truly reflect our performance. Our best came from our more experienced players who battled hard all day.
Final Scores. ROCs 0.5. PAC 7.12.
Best Players - Dylan Fitzsimmons, Joe Tarca , Tom Bradford, Kane Cini, Riordan McNamara.

C Grade Report – Round 14
The boys headed to park 9 to take the formidable outfit of PAC C grade team. We started the game very well and I cannot fault our contest at the play and ball, and we went in at qtr. time only a few goals down kicking into a strong breeze.
The second qtr. we came out and took on the challenge and once again went into halftime only a few goals down.
We pretty much stayed with them in third qtr. with very solid performances from Nick Schied, Tom O’Leary and Josh O’Leary. Tim Lewis was outstanding down back along with Daniel Franzon. JMac again gave us first look at the ball and took control of the ruck while Nick Platten had his best game all year and was exceptional.
Gabe Burden again was excellent in centre and centre half back. We went into the last qtr. full of optimism, however, the PAC full forward destroyed us in 15 minutes of football kicking 6 goals, and we couldn’t match their quality around the ground.
Overall, a solid effort and the boys kept at it for four qtrs.
Final Scores: ROCs 6.4 PAOC 14.14
Best: Gabe Burden, Justin McInerney, Nick Platten, Dan Franzon & Tim Lewis
Goal Scorers: Nick Platten & Adam Whitehead 2 each, Josh O’Leary & Jarrod Varley 1 each.

D Grade Report – Round 14
ROCs horror year of unavailability throughout the football club continues to grow with the Rocs Academy side now struggling to find extra players to don the Red & Black jumper for this round. We managed to assemble 20 keen combatants to host the C7 perennial heavyweights TTGully. The game started badly for Rocs kicking into a howler of a breeze, Gullies full of run were soon into attack and efficiently used the ball to boot clear on the scoreboard. Using the breeze in the second stanza provided not respite for a downtrodden & struggling Rocs, as TTGully kept up their presence around the stoppages finding an easier avenue to score against the breeze. 1/2-time score Rocs 0-1 vs TTGully 7-4.
Rocs now depleted unit (18 fit players) worked hard against the odds to challenge Gullys in every contest putting up a galant effort in a lost cause, but ultimately not in the game at the final bell. Final score Rocs 2-3 def by TTGully 19-10.
Huge thanks to the "semi-retired" Sammy Dooba (DuBois) who rucked the entire game unchanged & did his upmost to keep his team working together. Debutant Henry Brasher slotted into the Rocs Academy & had some encouraging possessions in a baptism of fire. Nick Holland & Jesse Abfalter from our Supplementary list had a major part in keeping the Rocs focussed all day and were in our best on the day.
Goalkickers - D.Huppatz -1, S.Marotti -1.
Best players -S.DuBois, N.Holland, J Munchenburg, A.Partington, D.Huppatz. J.Piantadosi.
Best Team men- J.Abfalter, S.Marotti, P.Norris.
