ROCFC vs SPOC all grades & LOSA vs Rosewater
A Grade Report – R10
The A Grade faced SPOC who were second on the ladder at home. This was a very important game for us for two reasons, to redeem ourselves from Round one and to keep us in touch with the final five as our percentage was low. We had three changes from last week with James Butterworth returning from injury, James Greenslade coming in for his second game, Josh Bradford back from Norwood as they had a bye and Dylan Fitzsimons earning his first game for the year. They were replacing the injured Fanta, Carbone, Tom O’Malley and Jack Draper.
The first quarter kicking against a slight breeze was a tight struggle, with our backline defending well through Nick Karagich, our skipper Dan McCallum, Peter Vorassi and Brad Lymn at full Back standing the dangerous Jock McLeay. Our forward line was getting plenty of opportunities but letting themselves down in front of goal, missing three gettable goals. Jett Boxer was working very hard and creating opportunities for our other forwards by winning the hard ball and Patty Dawson was looking dangerous. Ryan Lymn was playing well with plenty of support from our centre line in Tim Baccanello, Will Mead, James Warton and Dillion Reinbrecht.
Scores ROCS - 2.2 SPOC - 3.4.
The second quarter was an even contest for the first 15 minutes, but we again let ourselves down in front of goal, scoring only one goal for the quarter. Our defence was under immense pressure, with SPOC getting on top in their forward line which allowed them some easy goals. It was fair to say that this was our worst quarter for the season.
Scores ROCS - 3.5 SPOC– 8.5
The third quarter was an attacking style of game for the first 15 minutes but unfortunately SPOC had kicked three goals to our two points which was seeing them getting the game ascendancy at this stage. Then things started to change and from this point on we played a faster attacking game being first to the ball, putting on three goals through Bradford, Dawson, and Mead. The momentum of the game had changed in our favour, we had gained the ascendancy around the ball and our defence kept them scoreless for the rest of the quarter. We could see the self believe in the playing group lift, setting the game up for a massive last quarter
Scores ROCS – 6.7 SPOC – 11.9
The fourth quarter game plan was to take them on at all times and gain as much meterage with every kick in the backline. We knew the game momentum had swung in our favour and SPOC were tied and vulnerable. We attacked and had ten scoring shots to SPOC two for the quarter, kicking three goals seven points to SPOC”S two points and that tells the story. Overall for the game we had seven set shots that we missed and five snap gettable shots that we also missed. This made the loss by nine points hard to swallow.
Final Scores ROCS - 9.14 SPOC - 11.11
Best players: Daniel McCallum, James Warton, Patrick Dawson, Nick Karagich Tim Baccanello, and Ryan Lymn.
Best Team Man: Brad Lymn

Our next game is away against Brighton which is another important game as they will all be for now on. We need and appreciate all of your support in this up and coming game at Brighton. See you all then.

B Grade Report – Round 10.
A disappointing day! Even though we had 10 players out due to Covid and injury I still thought we should have not lost to that magnitude.
Our best players were dominated naturally by back half players. Sam Hearn continues his good form was named best and Gabriel Burden and “Frog” McNamara who both came up from the C grade played good games.
Jack Hill played the wing well plus Josh Massie battled hard all day on the ball as he always does.
Final Scores ROCS 1-4 def. by SPOC 19-11
Goal Kickers: Josh Massie
Best Players: Sam Hearn, Frog McNamara, Gabriel Burden, Jack Hill, Josh Massie.

C GRADE REPORT ROUND 10
Welcome to the second half of the season. SPOC at the quarry sitting above us was always going to be tough. At selection we lost 9 players to higher grades and 2 more Friday due to illness, putting us on the backfoot. 2 debutants Ed Greenslade and Adam Whitehead had great games, players returned from injury Ferghus Kernahan, Will Sullivan, Dylan Matthews and a call to arms with Zac Aufderheide, Tom Evans and Ben Davies joining us from D grade. Tom Matsis flew in from Perth and the scene was set for a great game.
The game was brutal and it was a pretty even first half. Third quarter started and SPOC came out kicking four goals and we were in trouble. A few magnets shifted around and we gained control of a bit of the quarter. Sully was moved onto their best player and shut him down, Daniel Franzon moved to fullback and shutdown their big Full Forward and Nick Platten went to half forward and kept us in the game.
We entered the 3 quarter time huddle 20 points down.
Players lifted across the ground. Tim Lewis rucked most of the day and was magnificent, Ferghus Kernahan and Amer dominated the mids along with Leggy but cramping started to take effect. Ferg also begun to cramp so we moved Tripodi into the middle and he set us a light. Franzon sustained a head knock and was taken off as I screamed to the boys to lift. Vincent Clemente was moved forward, kicked a goal and we were back in it. The boys were nothing short of magnificent they all dug in and through guts, determination got us our best win of the year. If I could I’d name 20 best players, the young players Luca Piantadosi, Charlie Brasher and Dyl Matthews all delivered. Zac was stellar, Varley had a great game and Wakeham in his second game played exceptional.
BOYS THE WORK STARTS NOW.

D Grade report ROCS v SPOC
Fantastic football conditions greeted the Rocs Academy & SPOC FC in the prime time twilight fixture to end a fourtrella of football clashes on Ladies Day at the Home of Football -ROC Park.
ROCS were instantly working together & exploded out of the centre, using quick hands & plenty of run ending with a flying shot on goal that just missed the target.
Sadly for our Team the 1pt lead was our largest for the afternoon and was erased in rapid style by SPOC as they ramped up their attack on the contest and worked efficiently together scoring with apparent ease as Rocs tried their best but were severely outgunned by a better team. To ROCS credit we never gave up trying to match SPOC and actually had more scoring shots in two quarters than our highly credentialed opponents.
Congrats to Eric (baby Baguette) Luppino who battled hard in the ruck contests and tried his best all day. Sam (Champagne) Campagnale and Dillon (little Ray) Huppatz along with Fergus (Irish Clark Kent) Shannahan were also outstanding during the game. Many thanks to our Supplimentary listed players Scooter (Scott) Gilbert the Super Nerd (Chris Pahl) & Hotdog (John) Harrison as they pulled on their Red & Black jumper's to help out our Team.
Great Debut from Chris Noble Rocs 2022 Club fitness and conditioning guru, as he gathered plenty of possessions during his time on ground surely the first of many cameos to come.
