A Grade Report – R7
The A Grade faced our archrival Payneham on Saturday at the Quarry, even though they haven’t been travelling well, they have been very competitive and not to be taken lightly. We knew they would be desperate for a win and always give us a tough contest. On paper we should be up for an easy win, but it would have been dangerous for us to take them lightly, due to the even nature of the competition. We also had some changes forced on us with Matthew Dnistriansky, Josh Bradford and Charles Kemp called back to Norwood, with Will O’Malley and Lewis McCormack out with injury. Dylan Reinbrecht back in after a week off due to work commitments was a great in, as we missed his pressure around the ball and his penetrating kicks into the forward line last week. Nicholas Karagich and Josh Massie were back in after some good form in the B Grade. Jayden Gale was also making his debut from Norwood and was last year’s Rostrevor Ist XVIII captain, so we looked forward to seeing what he could add to the team.
The first quarter was an interesting and high standard game with ROCS having a slight breeze playing an attacking game plan, with twice as many inside fifties than Payneham. James Butterworth in ruck was giving us first use of the ball, with our class centre players in Tim Baccanello and Will Mead taking us forward. Our forward line was looking dangerous with Fanta and Murphy giving us early goals with Meady looking dangerous busting through Payneham’s defences twice to have easy shots on goal for minor scores. The backline was holding strong and keeping Payneham at bay to a moderate score. One of the many highlights was a 50-metre-long goal by Dyll just before quarter time. We looked very dangerous at this point and not for our inaccurate kicking for goal, we could have been a lot further in front. This has been a bit of a pattern not putting score board pressure on teams in the first quarter. Everybody was contributing and this is one thing we have been working hard on. Scores ROCS 4.6 Payneham 3. 1
The second quarter saw us getting on top all over the ground, with our backline holding Payneham to three points, with Charlie Jordon and Hayden Swanbury on top at Full Back and Centre Half Back. Daniel Carbone was marking strongly in the back line playing outstandingly, cutting of Payneham’s forward entry time after time, being well backed up by Dmac and Tools. Again, we were on top in the centre with our forward line looking danger but again a little inaccurate. Scores ROCS - 6.10 Payneham – 3.4
The third quarter was our best for this year, putting Payneham away, kicking 5 goals 4 behinds to 2 goals 1 behind. Fanta, Murphy and Paddy Dawson looked dangerous and again if we had kicked accurately, we could have been ten goals up at three Quarter time. Scores ROCS - 11.14 Payneham – 5.5
The fourth quarter saw a tight even contest with Payneham winning the quarter 3 goals 3 behinds to ROCS 2 goals 2 behinds. Final Scores ROCS 13.16 Payneham 8.8
Best players were - Tim Baccanello, Will Mead, James Butterworth, Daniel Carbone, Dylan Reinbrecht

Congratulations to the C Grade and LOSA on their wins. Our next game is away at Saint Ignatius at the Karen Rolton Oval opposite the RAH. This is a must win to create a further gap away from the bottom five teams and snapping at the heels of the top four. We need and appreciate all of your support in this up-and-coming game at a top class facility. See you all then.

Considering Payneham past results and where they are placed this year so far, our performance was disappointing. For the first time this year as a coach I was disappointed with at times our effort and willingness to stay in the contest.
We started the game slowly with Payneham kicking the first three goals, hence from then we could not bridge the gap.
For the next three quarters we did out score them but failed to get the much-needed win.
We had some good contributors who battled all day – Brad Lymn was brilliant initially on the ball for the first half and then down back the last half. Stuart Greenslade played wing and on ball very well.
Jarrad Ball played his best game this year on the ball, plus Dylan Fitzsimmons and Harrison Twiggs continued their good form, with good efforts.
Chris Ash also continues to do well forward with 4 goals, plus Adam Greenwood and Joe Tarca showed great courage and determination all match.
Final Scores
ROCS 5-9 v Payneham 6-12
Best Players – Brad Lymn, Stuart Greenslade, Jarrad Ball, Dylan Fitzsimmons, Joe Tarca.
Goal Kickers – Chris Ash 4, Dylan Fitzsimmons 1.

C Grade Report - R7
After a terrible performance against Goodwood the week prior notching a win against Payneham was necessary for us as a team. The boys were in high spirts as we celebrated Darren Leggett’s 150th game and went out wanting to play great football. Payneham played well in the first half dominating in the midfield but fortunately our backline held them at bay. We restructured into the second half and came out swinging kicking 5 goals in the third quarter and completely shut them down.
Notable performances went to 150 gamer Darren Leggett who kicked 3 goals and was terrific on ball. Vice-Captain Riordan McNamara back from injury was sensational down back, Lawson Nitschke gave us great run and carry, Sam Warren in fine form continuing to impress and skipper Tim Lewis solid as usual.
Final Scores: ROCS 12-10-82 def Payneham 8-8-57
Goals: Josh O'Leary 4, Darren Leggett 3, Dylan Mathews 2, Nick Platten, Ky Haddad, Charlie Brasher
Best: Darren Leggett, Riordan McNamara, Lawson Nitschke, Sam Warren, Timmy Lewis.

D Grade Report – R7
ROCs Academy travelled to Modbury oval, in a match that both sides needed to win to claim an important position in the top 5 of the C7 competition.
An entertaining first stanza of football produced free flowing passages of play with ROCs & Modbury gaining ascendency during time in possession, ROCs playing well enough to hold a 2 goal lead at the first break.
1/4-time scores ROCs 5-2 vs Modbury 3-2.
Modbury had a clear advantage in the ruck contests & used the ball quickly and efficiently to challenge ROCs for the lead & held an advantage going to the long break. 1/2-time scores ROCs 6-3 vs Modbury 7-7
The second half produced 14 goals as the game became a goal fest with both teams holding patches of dominance but ultimately ROCs could not sustain scoreboard pressure & Modbury had enough better players to grind out a win.
Final score ROCs 12-6 def by Modbury 15-14.

Loreto OS 08 14 (62) Defeated Athelstone 01 08 (14)
Congratulations to the A Grade and C’s on good wins. The LOSA Women’s side had a challenging game against Athelstone F.C. who could only field 14 players due to injuries. This situation didn’t suit our game plan with now eight players on the bench it was difficult to have a balanced side with all the interchanging. We had a slow start but as the game progressed our game play improved, and we eventually over ran the Athelstone side in the second half. I must give credit to Athelstone despite only having 14 players with no bench they put in a great effort holding our side for three quarters. Overall, we had at times some excellent teamwork, especially in the last quarter which was exciting to watch. It was hard picking best players as there were so many to choose from. The standout in the centre was again Bella Simpson who dominated the game. Followed by our Skipper Amelia Rosella who played a real Captains game in the forward line. Third best was Super-boot Lucy Franzon who peppered the goals all day inside our fifty. Forth was Poppy Scaife who put in her best performance for the season and Fifth best was Grace McGovern who was another player who put in a strong performance after missing the last two games. Again, well done to the girls we are now in second place and will be facing the top side Edwardstown at home next week. This will be a real test to see how far we have come so far. Good luck girls.
Goal Kickers were Super boot Lucy Franzon 2 goals, Olivia Law 1, Eliza O’Leary 1, Tild Ricourt 1, Erini Vithoulkas 1 and Annabelle Langley 1.
Best Players: Bella Simpson, Amelia Rosella, Lucy Franzon, Poppy Scaife, Grace McGovern
