The Club is delighted to announce that Ben “ Bowler “ Watkins has accepted the appointment as the Club’s Senior Coach in 2022.
After playing Reserves and League football for West Adelaide from 1992 to 2002 Ben came to the ROCs in 2002 as a player and Assistant A grade Coach to Greg Mellor. Ben played in our Div 2 Premiership in 2003 and continued playing for ROCS in Div 1 in 2004 – 2005.
Ben then took on the role of playing coach of Paskerville Football Club from 2006 to 2008 before re-joining West Adelaide initially as ruck coach but progressing to hold positions as Reserves Coach, League Senior Assistant and Midfield Coach for former Hawthorn champion and Westies Senior Coach Andy Collins.
In 2017 he joined Woodville West Torrens as Mick Godden’s League Senior Assistant and Midfield Coach.
He was also Head of Development – Under 18 at the Eagles.
In 2020-21 Ben took on the role as Senior Coach of Adelaide Uni in Div 1.
During his career Ben has been involved in many finals and Grand Finals.
It’s so good to have him back at the ROCs and we welcome him and his partner Nardia to the ROCS family.
Thank you to those involved in the selection of our new coach after Will and Murph’s decision to step away from senior coaching roles due to time constraints and work and family commitments. We look forward to seeing them continuing on as players in the red and black. We take this opportunity to publicly thank them both for their untiring efforts.
Bob Holland on behalf of the Committee.
