R18 Coaches Report
A's; B's & C's vs Brighton & D's vs Uni
ROCS travelled to Brighton for the tripleheader - the D's were at the Quarry for its clash with Adelaide University.
Please see below for Coaches Reports.
Milestones : Kieran Holland 200 - Dylan Fitzsimons 50.
Kieran Holland played his 200th game for the ROCFC on Saturday.
"Dutchie" first played for Rostrevor College in 2001 (Year 5) and progressed through to the First XVIII in 2008 (Year 12).
He also played juniors for Payneham/Norwood Union, beginning in the Under 11's and finishing at Under 16 level. During his period with PNU Kieran played in 6 Grand Finals, winning 4 Premierships.
Kieran also played Under 17's for Woodville-West Torrens in 2008, and Under 18's in 2009/2010.
After a taste of ROCS footy during 2009, when he played 4 B Grade games and 1 in the A's, "Dutchie" quickly developed into a reliable, rebounding defender.
In 2013, he was a key member of the ROCS first ever SAAFL Division 1 premiership team. He was named in the SAAFL Team of the Year in 2013 and 2014. In 2014 he also represented the SAAFL against SA Country, and the SAAFL U/23's against the WAAFL.
Playing predominantly as a tall defender, Kieran has been given some tough tasks over the years, but has come through with flying colours and established himself as one of the premium defenders of the competition and an integral part of the ROCS back 6.
With the ROCS season coming to an end, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the people who have helped the club field 4 teams in 2021.

A Grade Report - R18
The A grade faced Brighton away from home on Saturday. We started the game strong, however, as the day progressed Brighton were able to grind us down and get a much-deserved win. Brighton ran away with the game and won by 29 points.
Kieran Holland played his 200th game on the weekend and featured among the best players on the day. Playing 200 games is an incredible achievement and we would like to thank Kieran for everything he has done for ROCS over the past 10 years, what a legend!
Not the way we wanted to finish the season however we would like to thank everyone in the ROCS community for the year. We look forward to the club coming back bigger, better and stronger for the 2022 season.
Have a great off-season and thanks again for the year.

B Grade Report - R18
It was a brave performance from the B Grade to finish off the year however we came up short, final scores; ROC’s: 6.10.46 def by Brighton: 9.9.63
Brighton are a quality side only having lost once throughout the year and we took it up to them for most of the game however in testing conditions our skill execution let us down in the end.
J. Massie was outstanding on ball, his toughness winning a lot of ball inside a highlight. In his 50th game for the club D. Fitzsimmons had a great game though the midfield even managing to hit the score board finishing with 2 goals.
J. Ball played a few different roles both forward and back, his ability to read the play particularly in the back half of the ground was a standout. J. Draper and M. McKay were rock solid down back clearly winning their positions.
Big thanks to Ryan Holm for helping out with runner duties on the weekend and for your contribution throughout the year.
Thank you also to Elliot Shirley (Assistant coach), David Moyle (team manager) for all the support but most importantly the playing group for your efforts this year and making it enjoyable to be a part of! Despite finishing short of qualifying for finals, much can be taken out of the year in particular the improvement of young players.

C Grade Report - R18
Another loss unfortunately rounded off our season as the C grade went down to Brighton 12.17 to 7.5
Despite the loss it was good to see the boys give it a red hot crack in the last game of the year. First year player Dylan Matthews was best on Ground Kicking 5 goals to finish the season off strong. Henry Dawson was our next best and provided a good target when playing at CHF. Fan Favourite Will Sullivan ended his season on a strong note showing the same attack on the footy we have seen since the start of the season. The old man of the team Darren Leggett had a very strong game providing some real grunt when needed. 5th best went to Daniel Leonard who cap off a great first year of footy. Tom Warren was once again our best team man. Goal kickers where Dylan Matthews 5 and Will Sullivan and Peter Sianis with 1 each.
I would like to thank Tony Franzon and John Lewis for there help this year. They have both been a huge help and have provided plenty of guidance as a first year coach. Also thanks go out to our usual goal umpire Al, regular boundary umpires Paul De Lisio and Daniel Marotti. Also to some of the players who when injured helped out. Thanks to Bob Sullivan and Dean Lord for the help they have provide across the year. Last but not least Reno also deserves a big thank you for everything he has done for me throughout the year.
That's it for season 2021 but I look forward to next year and getting out on the field with the boys. Until then Go ROCS.

D Grade Report - R18
Final round challenges don't get tougher than the Rocs Academy's opponent to round out season 2021, top of the table- 16w -1loss ratio & a huge 150pt win the previous round Adelaide Uni were simply flying this year and we're looking for an easygoing day out against middle of the competition Rocs to tune up for Finals action.
Backs to the wall, 18 available players (thanks J.Munchenberg playing 2 games again giving us 1 rotation for the players) required a specific game plan needed & the Rocs Academy followed up with stunning success.
The Uni Blacks started well but Rocs absorbed their dominance & played with relentless pressure around every contest, moving the ball quickly forward , giving our forward line multiple chances to hit the scoreboard.
Rocs backline held up many of Adel Uni's forward entries with Frog McNamara & Heartbreaker (Tom O'Leary) on top and setting up attacking drives with one action pickups and clean ball use a huge advantage for a charging Rocs lineup.
With Adel Uni clearly unsettled & in unchartertd territory (behind on the scoreboard) the contest became heated and scrappy but Rocs continued to work together to create forward chances & even a few missed shots on goal couldn't stop Rocs ascendancy leading the way until the halftime break. 1/2 time scores Rocs 7-6 vs Adel Uni 4-5 .
Rocs braced themselves for the challenge to stay ahead in the game and didn't have to wait long for a fired up Uni onslaught, with their ears still ringing from a heated halftime address Uni had slammed home 4 unanswered goals in just a
few minutes to draw level & added 5 more goals to stop the Rocs impetus & cruse to a comfortable lead by 3/4 time.
3/4 time scores Rocs 7-7 vs Adel Uni 13-7.
A tired & weary Rocs tried to find a way to get back into the contest but could only manage a lone goal as our run & carry dried up leaving Uni to control proceedings until the final bell. Final score Rocs 8-7 def by Adel Uni 18-10.
Best players - S.Tagg , T.O'Leary , R.McNamara , A.Cream , S.Bridge. Best team man - H.Twiggs.
Goalkickers- S.Tagg -3, A.Cream -2, J.McInearney -1, P.Norris -1, H.Twiggs -1.
Despite the scoreline the Rocs Academy squad finished the season strongly with 3w -2L to round out our campaign overcoming depleted numbers and promotion of regular players that hampered our otherwise enjoyable and productive year.
