R8 Coaches Report

A's, B's & C's vs Port District. and D's vs Flinders Par

ROCS travelled to Largs Reserve for the triple-header against Port District. The D's were at the Quarry for its clash against Flinders Park.

The A's welcomed back Mitch Sutcliffe - and the D's Paul Fantasia, Jack Nelligan and Jono Trenorden.

Milestones : Kane Cini played his 50th ROCS game, and Daniel Franzon will be the next player to reach that mark this week.

Club Legend Will O'Malley is due to play his 200th in R9 and hopefully Charles Jordan will join him to celebrate his 150th milestone on Saturday as well.

William O'Malley's 200th this week.

Willo made his ROCS debut in 2008. He was available for just 1 game, as he spent the rest of the season with the Norwood Football Club Under 19's.
After playing Reserves for Norwood in 2009, he returned to the ROCS for the 2010 season, and has remained with the Red and Blacks to this day.
A ROCS regular from 2010, Will has only  ever played A's, and has been an integral part of the club's success on and off the field in the past decade.
ROCS Best and Fairest in 2015 and 2017, he won the 2017 Division 1 Medal, and has been runner up twice.
He has been named in the League's Team of the Year on 5 occasions : 2012,2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018.
Club Captain 2013-2018, he has moved into coaching in recent years - Club Coach 2019/20 and Co-Coach 2021.
Willo played State football against Tasmania in 2012 - and has also played in 3 SAAFL vs SA Country representative matches.
The highlight of Willo's career thus far have been the two Division 1 flags : 2013 and 2017.
Together with younger brothers Charlie (162 games) and Tom (146 games) he has help build an O'Malley dynasty at ROC Park.

Charles Jordan - 150th this week

Reliable and determined defender Charles Jordan will hopefully play his 150th this week.
"Fridge" epitomises how his team mates and the ROCS supporters like the game to be played - hard and fair.
He began playing regularly for ROCS in 2013, but was ruled out of that year's Grand Final due to a broken leg.
In 2015 he played in the B grade flag. Charlie then went on to be an important member of the 2017 premiership team.
Following in the footsteps of his brother James ( 180 games), and his father Tim (195 games), Charlie has many more years of very good footy left in him, and is set to  add to his career games and premiership tallies.

This week all 4 grades face St Peters OC at Campbelltown Memorial Oval.

A Grade - R8

The A Grade faced a big challenge down at Largs Bay over the weekend and although we controlled the game for the majority of the day, we let the game slip away from us late and went down by 11 points.

Nick Murphy was clearly the dominant forward on the ground kicking 4 goals. Dylan Reinbrecht was fantastic at stoppages and Stefan Lanzoni continued his wary season form finishing with 3 goals

Unfortunately at the moment the A Grade aren’t able to put 4 quarters of football together and it has been a theme that has cost us in all of our losses.

This week we face SPOC in the final game before the bye and it shapes as the biggest game of year for us. We look forward to seeing you all there.

B Grade - R8

A disappointing day for the B Grade going down to a Port Districts side who completely out played us. Final scores - ROCs 4.6 defeated by Port Districts 15.10.
The team had just 3 goal kickers, Tom McCormack 2 and 1 each to Sam Hearn and Kane Cini.
Sam DuBois worked hard all day, Trent Versace was great down back and other better players included Jarryd Ball, Travis Whittle and Ryan Lymn.
We look forward to bouncing back next week against Saints in what will be a big day for the club.

C Grade Report - R8

Coming off of back to back wins the C grade  ventured down to Port Districts with some confidence up there sleeve. However, despite probably having more of the ball on the day, were run off the park by a strong Port District Side 12.9 to 1.4
The boys played hard physical footy which was great to see but our skill execution let us down on the day. John “Jack” McCarron was our best player on the day shutting down attacks from the opposition as much as he physically could. Harry Carter was our next best and played probably his best game of footy I have seen from him at the club. Captain Tim Lewis was again in the best and gave it his all in the ruck against an experienced opponent. Daniel Franzon and Will Sullivan were our next best with both players attacking the footy and giving it there all for the whole game. Best team man was Peter Sianis who gave it his all. Special mention goes to Dylan Matthews who provided support in the ruck and a solid target when the ball got to the forward line. Lone goal scorer was Jack Haddad.
We come up against SPOC this week in a big match on Ladies day. Hope to see you all there.

D Grade Report - R8

Magnificent playing conditions at ROC Park (CMO), a new team in the C8 comp (Flinders Park FC) greeted the Red&Blacks looking for improvement on last week's performance.
The first few minutes were all Flinders Pk - surging forward with good play had Rocs' defence holding up under pressure to keep us in the contest. Then our key forwards Twigga (Harry) Twiggs & Pablo (Paul) Fantasia started to dominate the aerial contests & booting goals - the Rocs teamwork and skills lifted to control the tempo until late in the quarter until we stopped doing the hard team things needed & Flinders Pk slammed home 3 quick goals to end the Qtr.
1/4 time Rocs 5-0 vs Flind.Pk 3-1
Rocs responded to the challenge & took control for the full 22 mins, with missing some easy shots on goal the only negative. Teamwork , running in numbers & creative efforts with quick ball movement were just what was needed to hold a 30+ lead going into half time. The second half had both sides holding sway for periods of the game with Rocs doing enough to hold our lead of 30+ running out winners in an entertaining match.
Final score Rocs 13-9 def Flinders Pk 8-6
A Massive "thank you" from the Rocs Academy squad goes out to the retired former players and semi current players who dusted off the boots to play for The Mighty Rocs this week .. Pablo (Paul) Fantasia, Jack (Peter Rabbit) Neligan, Jono Trenorden, Funky (Sam) Millard, Max (Enforcer) Lawrence, Diesel (Sam) Moten & Darrell (Pipes) Leggett (returning from injury) all helped the team to a memorable win.
Best players - A Cream, P.Fantasia, S.Tagg, L.Nitschke, M.Zamperelli, J.McInerney. Best Team Man - H.Twiggs.  Goalkickers - H.Twiggs 4, P.Fantasia 3, S.Tagg 3, A.Cream 2, M.Zamperelli 1.
