A Grade Report - R4

The A grade played Goodwood Saints at Goodwood on Saturday. Unlike the last few games, ROCS were slow out the blocks and found themselves down by 31 points at quarter time.

However, ROCS came alive in the second quarter, lead by Luke Manuel playing in the midfield, and went into the halftime break 4 points down. The second half was a real arm wrestle and Goodwood Saints were able to execute their game plan and hold ROCS at arms-length until the final siren, winning by 14 points. It was a hard-fought contested game all day but in the end, Goodwood Saints deserved the win. ROCS had a number of good individual contributors and as a team, our lapse in the first quarter and an inability to run over the top of Goodwood Saints in the last quarter was disappointing.

Next week we take on Tea Tree Gully Football Club at home which is shaping up as a must-win game for the A grade if we are to feature high on the ladder at the conclusion of the minor round. Look forward to seeing you all next week.

B Grade Report - R4

The B Grade were comfortably beaten by a well organised Goodwood Saints team – final scores Goodwood: 11.11 defeating ROC’s: 5.6

The game was tight early (level at quarter time) but Goodwood proved too strong, pulling away the longer the game went.

The team looks forward to bouncing back next week against Tea Tree Gully at home, hope to see you all there!

C Grade Report - R4

The C grade came up against the undefeated top of the table Goodwood Saints side and unfortunately couldn’t come away with the win.

After a poor first half it was very pleasing to see that boys attitude and willingness had changed in the second half and managed to put a respectable performance together in the half.

It was even more pleasing to see that even though the score line read 18.6 to 3.5 the boys managed to keep Goodwood scoreless in the final term.

Special mentions go out to Mitch Warren who under Timmy Lewis absence captained the team on the day. Also to Jacob Scutella who made his ROCFC debut.

Best on ground went to Tom O’Leary who’s constant attack and tackling provided some highlights on the day. In Defence Max McKay was a stand out playing on players either taller or a lot more Kg’s then him.

Will Sullivan and Sam Hearn gave constant efforts all day and were unlucky not to be higher up in the best players. Young players Lewis Matsis and Jayden Smith rounded out our best with solid efforts and their willingness to take game on.

We come up against Tea Tree Gully next week who sit one spot ahead on the ladder. It should be an entertaining game and hopefully the boys can bounce back and show who really is the best Red and Black team in Adelaide.

D Grade Report - R4

The Rocfc Academy side had a 2:15pm kickoff against arch rivals Old Iggies at Roc Park but we had a few hiccups prior to the game with a host of Rocs (12+) unavailable for selection this week .

The game started with Rocs kicking with the use of a 4 goal Zephyr behind us but were very inaccurate in front of goal & wasted this advantage kicking 0-5 to Iggies 0-0. A very uninspiring 1/4 time scoreline.

Old Iggies then showed the young Rocs lineup how to make use of the wind with the scoreboard ticking over & held the advantage at 1/2 time. Rocs 3-6 vs Iggies  4-4.

The second half producing a nail-biting action packed contest with the lead changing multiple times until returning skipper Stevie J (Marotti) booting the game sealer late in the last stanza.

A truly inspiring win against the odds by the Academy side (D grade) as the entire squad lifted a level or two, combining together to win the. contest. Final score Rocs 10-16 vs Old Iggies 9-6.

2 players that deserve extra credit Alex (the Bomb) Pietrobon who rolled an ankle early in the 1st QTR came off several times to be restrapped was rested at full forward booting 5 goals & Joel (Baguette) Luppino as our only "tall" player rucked unchanged all day to help guide his teammate's to a great victory.

Best players- A.Cream, J. Luppino, A. Pietrobon, L.Fantarella, S.Warren. Best Team Man M.Zamparelli. Goalkickers - A.Pietrobon -5, S.Marotti - 2, A.Cream -1, S.Emanuele - 1, J.Luppino - 1.
