A Grade (Round 2)

Rostrevor OC 15 10 (100) defeated Adelaide University 11 09 (75).
The A grade played an exciting and young Adelaide University side on Saturday. Adelaide University has given ROCS some troubles in the last few years and seems to match up well against us. Much like last year against Adelaide University, ROCS got off to a fast start leading 5 goals to 1 at the first break, only to have that margin closed to 11 points at three-quarter time.

However, ROCS captain James Jordan led the way in the last quarter and helped guide Rostrevor to a 25 point win at the final siren. Both Craig Holm and Tim Baccanello were strong contributors throughout the whole day and stood up when it mattered in the last quarter.

Next week we take on PAOC at home which will give us a good indication of where we sit in relation to the rest of the competition, as PAOC is one of the best sides, if not the best side in Division 1. Look forward to seeing you all next week,

Will O'Malley and Nicholas Murphy.

B Grade (Round 2)

Rostrevor OC 13 13 (91) defeated Adelaide University 03 05 (23).
The B Grade continued the positive start to 2021 with a solid performance, defeating ADL UNI.

The game started scrappy however ROCs settled well to quickly gain the upper hand midway through the first quarter. The team dropped off fractionally to start the last quarter but finished the game very well. With all things considered it was a very pleasing four quarter, team performance.

Special mentions to A. Greenwood who played his first game in the B Grade and J. Draper who showed great leadership and determination down back.

N. Karagich was our best player, starting the game very well and showed huge presence across half forward all game. C. Ash continued his great start to the year finding plenty of it around the contest as well as J. Duperouzel and J. Massie. J. Sutcliffe was on top in the ruck and provided our mids first look at it all day.

Goal kickers included N. Karagich (5), A. Richter (3), T. McCormack & T.Hill two each and M. Greenwood with 1.

Focus now turns to training this week in preparation for PAC who will be much stronger than the two teams we have come up against so far!

C Grade (Round 2)

Rostrevor OC 05 11 (41) defeated by Adelaide University 15 07 (97).
After last week's win the C grade team were looking to continue their good start to the season with another victory against Adelaide Uni. However, after a slow start, the team couldn’t reel in the experienced opposition.

Although we couldn’t come away with the win, there were some pleasing signs from the boys who were giving it a red hot go throughout the day. Sam Hearn, was our best on for the day after putting together a solid 4 quarter performance and was one of the main ball winners early on. Henry Warren had one of his best games for the club in defence and really showed a great attack on the footy. Our midfield general Mitch Warren was again one of our better players popping up all over the ground. Then forward pair Kane Cini and Jarryd Ball rounded out our top 5 with some strong individual performances.

Congratulations goes to Daniel Leonard and Sam Warren (1 Goal) for making their C grade debuts of the club.

The C grade will look to bounce back next week against PAOC on home deck to start what we hope will be the first of four wins on the day.

D Grade (Round 2)

Rostrevor OC 07 05 (47) defeated by Golden Grove 12 08 (80).
A welcome return to ROC Park had the Rocs Academy side bristling with anticipation to take on the C8 Competitions seasoned ladder leaders Golden Grove FC . The Rocs lineup features mostly inexperienced new teammates sprinkled with quality campaigners & we knew we had to continue improving our game style & scoreboard pressure to keep us in the contest.

From the opening bounce Rocs were all over the Kookaburras with run , pressure & structured team play with only wasted opportunities hurting a positive start .. Rocs 1-3. vs GG 1-1

As expected Golden Grove came out snarling & despite our best efforts, stormed away with the game booting 5-3 to our 1-0 to leave a stagnant Rocs in their wake as  the GG midfielders & forwards dominated the 2nd QTR ..

A more urgent Rocs increased their endeavours & managed to find a way to match the Kookaburras all over the ground during the 3rd stanza & went to 3/4 time outscoring the GG lineup again .. Rocs 5-4 vs GG 8-5 ...

Once again the Kookaburras lifted workrates & overan the Rocs .. however we have a "never out of any contest" standard & our boys were all still running & presenting well into the dying moments of a great contest..

A couple of freshmen starting their Rocs careers transitioning into senior footy Silky (Zac) Aufderheide & Hammer (Hamish) Shute are sharing a forward position in the team and are getting better each outing, both are creative players who want to work hard & develop their skillset . Exciting stuff ..

Best players. R.McNamara, P.Russo, S.Tagg, L.Bowler, T.Versace.  Special mention J.McInerney A.Cream P.Norris. Best team man - B.Davies
Goals: P.Norris 2, V.Clemente, S.Ciccarella, H.Twiggs, T.Versace, T.Warren
