A's, B's & C's vs Port District & D's vs Uni

A Grade

The A's travelled to Largs Reserve for the all-important clash with Port District. Always a difficult oval to get the points, coach Will O'Malley was justifiably proud of his team's overall performance - ROCS running out eventual winners : 11.9 to 7.8 (Half-Time 3.6 to 2.3).

Port District got within a point in the final term, but ROCS finished off the better with a 6 goal last quarter effort. Nick Murphy (4 goals) was our best, closely followed by Sam Jonas. Others to have very good games included Tim Baccanello, Murphy Short, Dylan Reinbrecht, Dan McCallum, James Butterworth, Pat Dawson and Tom O'Malley. Best Team Man went to Tom McCormack. Congratulations to Henry Tregoweth on his impressive A Grade debut.

It was great to see the ROCS rebound after a couple of losses, but the team will need to keep winning to make the finals. The next game is not until Saturday week - against Athelstone at the Campbelltown Memorial Oval.

B Grade

Coach Damien Polkinghorne was looking for an improved ROCS performance in the B's match against Port District. The side worked hard, had plenty of the play, and led at the first break. However, after a poor second quarter we were defeated 6.8 to 9.6. (H/T : 1.6 to 6.4).

Harry Simpson was again our best, followed by Joe Tarca, Jack Draper, Ryan Lymn, Peter Vorrasi and Tom O'Leary. Others to play well included Chris Ash and Zac Noonan. Elliot Shirley was the Best Team Man. The team will be striving to get back in the winner's circle when it meets Athelstone after the break.

C Grade

ROCS were beaten by a bigger and more experienced Port District: 4.3 to 15.16.

Michael Trevarrow had a very good game. John McCarron was as determined as always. Riordan McNamara continues to improve. Thomas Matsis has had an excellent season. Josh O'Leary was solid.

Best Team Man awards went to Joshua Piantadosi and Tim Lewis. The next game is against Athelstone on 29/8.

D Grade

The D's went a step closer to securing a finals berth by beating Adelaide University at Campbelltown : 8.12 to 5.8. (Half-time 4.8 to 3.2).

Our best players were: Henry Dawson, Matthew Mezzini (3 goals), Ben Davies, Chris Pahl and Matt Sauer. Best Team Man was Patrick Moller.

Paul "Chuck" Norris is due to play his 287th ROCS game on Saturday. He will draw level with Drew Litster, currently sitting in third place on the list for most games played for the club.

Special thank you this week goes to the Match Day Volunteers, especially to Dean Lord and Bob Sutherland, for all their work.

The A, B, and C grades have this Saturday off, whilst the D Grade is home to Modbury, at 2.15pm.

Jimmy Shannon advises the upstairs Bar will be open from 2.15 - 6.00pm. Normal restrictions will apply.
