A's B's & C's vs SPOC and D's vs TTG

A Grade

ROCS were home against the undefeated SPOCS, on a day the club honoured its past players and officials, and in particular the members of the 1980 A Grade premiership side.

In a highly competitive match, ROCS led narrowly at the first break, and trailed 6.6 to 7.9 at the main interval. An even third quarter set up an exciting finish, which saw ROCS get over the line in one of the club's most memorable performances : 12.14 to 10.14.

The team had no passengers, and the better players were : Sam Jonas (best on ground), Tom McCormack (brilliant with 5 goals), Kieran Holland, Tim Baccanello, Tullio DeMatteis, Pat Dawson, Murphy Short (Best Team Man), James Butterworth, Charlie Jordan, Craig Holm, Dan McCallum and Anthony McCarthy. Kane Cini made an impressive and  much deserved ROCS A Grade debut.
It was great to see so many past players and officials at the game, and in the rooms after the win.

Craig Holm is set to play his 150th game this week, against Goodwood Saints. Craig's record speaks for itself. 5 times Best and Fairest, 2 Div/1 premierships (2013, 2017), Best on Ground medals in both Grand Final victories. SAAFL Div 1 medallist in 2013 and 2014, State representative for 3 seasons. 5 times SAAFL Team of the Year.

He has set a great example to his team-mates with his professional and meticulous approach to training and game days. Craig has been incredibly consistent, rarely being out of the A Grade's best player list. The ROCFC congratulates "Holmy", and hopes that he will add to his already imposing record in 2020, and beyond.

Unfortunately, the B/C/D Grades failed to get over the line on Saturday.

B Grade

The B's were outplayed 7.9 to 15.5. Daniel Carbone was our best in his first game for the club. Henry Tregoweth continues to impress. Zac Noonan was a tireless contributor. Hayden Swanbury, Chris Ash and Joe Tarca continue to play good footy. Sam DuBois was named Best Team Man. The season is starting to slip away for the B's, and a win this week against Goodwood is all-important.

C Grade

The C's were soundly beaten by SPOCS : 5.4 to 13.13. Tom Matsis was best, followed by Dan Gilbert with 3 goals, and John McCarron. Tim Lewis was solid in defence. Riordan McNamara and Hamish Massie were others to play well.

Coach Mark Twiggs will also be looking for a win this week to help his team stay in touch with the five.

D Grade

The D Grade were in the contest for the first 3 quarters against Tea Tree Gully (away), but were over-run in the last term.

Final scores : 7.6 to 14.14.

Matt Sauer was back to his best. Patrick Russo continues to improve. Shane Newbound played his best game for the club. Matthew Mezzini and Nick Bartold also had good games. Alex Pietrobon was the Best Team Man.
This week the D's are home to Golden Grove (2.15pm).
