A's B's & C's vs Port Districts & D's vs Uni (SF)

A Grade - R18

The A's were away to Port District with both sides having plenty to play for. ROCS managed to just hang on and win the match : 10.7 to 8.17. (Half-Time 6.4 to 5.5). Our better players included Luke Manuel, Dan McCallum, skipper James Jordan, Heath Commane (3 goals), Tom O'Malley, Michael Coad (4 goals) and Anthony McCarthy. The victory moves ROCS into 2nd spot on the table at the end of the Minor Round, and sets up a home Qualifying Final against Prince Alfred Old Collegians this Saturday, at 2.15 pm. Please get to the game if you can - the players greatly appreciate your support.

B Grade - R18

The B Grade travelled to Port District for the last Minor Round match of the year, with coach Damien Polkinghorne and his team knowing they had to win, and other results go their way, before they could gain a finals berth. In an impressive display ROCS ran out winners : 12.10 to 11.5.

Chris Pahl (3 goals) was classy in a best on ground performance. Josh Massie provided plenty of drive around the ground. Tom McCormack has had an outstanding season up forward, and booted another 5 goals. Scott Gilbert and Kane Cini also had very good games.

Unfortunately, after winning 11 games and being in a  four-way tie for third spot, ROCS ultimately missed the finals on percentage.  No one would be more disappointed than coach Damien Polkinghorne who has worked tirelessly all year. Many thanks to team manager Dave Moyle for his efforts on match days.

C Grade -R18

ROCS were away to Port District, and after an even first quarter were beaten 5.4 to 14.12 - despite being competitive for major portions of the game. Vice-captain Carlton Hollsten (2 goals) was our best player, and others to do well included John McCarron, Riley Slack (2 goals), Jarrod Varley, Tom Matsis, Jarryd Ball and Matthew McPeake.

After a very good start to the season, injury and unavailability played a major part in derailing the young ROCS side. The inexperienced squad would have benefited greatly from the season. Well done to coach Mark Twiggs and his assistants, Team Manager John Lewis, Harrison Twiggs and Tony Franzon.

D Grade - Semi Final

The D's were beaten by Adelaide University in the 1st Semi-Final : 8.6 to 11.7. (Half-Time 4.5 to 6.2). Playing at home, ROCS had led at the last break, but were unable to stop Uni's run late in the game.

Sam Bridge has had a great year and was our best player on Saturday. Luke DuBois (3 goals) was again an important contributor, and others to play well included Michael Trevarrow, Luke Skoblyk, Max McKay and captain Paul Norris.

Congratulations to Steve "Supercoach" Edwards for guiding his team to another finals campaign, and winning 10 out of the 17 Minor round games. Special mention to Team Manager Keith Norris for his great work during the season.
