R16 - A’s B’s & C’s vs UNI & R17 D’s vs Golden Grove

A Grade - R16

ROCS were home to Adelaide University on Saturday, and in wet and heavy conditions ran out winners : 9.9 to 5.5 (Half time 4.4 to 3.1).

Craig Holm is getting back to his best form. Anthony McCarthy was again composed and solid in defence. Tim Baccanello, Lewis McCormack and Dan McCallum continue to play very well, and Paul Fantasia impressed in his first game back after a break. Others to play well included Charlie Jordan and Will O'Malley. Heath Commane was our leading goal-kicker with three.

Next week the team travels to Henley and will endeavour to maintain momentum leading into the finals.

B Grade - R16

The B's kept its season alive with a convincing 50 point win against University, 11.6 to 3.4. Half time : 7.2 to 3.1.

Josh Massie enjoyed the conditions and was best on ground. Mitchell Warren was high in our best players, as was Tom McCormack who kicked 7 majors in a low-scoring game.

"Mr. Consistent", Zac Noonan was as reliable as always, and others to play well included Nick Karagich and Nick Platten.

Back in the 5 with only 2 rounds to go, coach Damien Polkinghorne now turns his attention to 3rd placed Henley.

C Grade - R16

ROCS fell just short of what would have been an important victory against Adelaide University - eventually going down by 4 points. Final scores : 6.12 to 8.4. Half time : 4.4 to 5.1.

Coach Mark Twiggs was rightly proud of his team's performance, but ROCS must now win its two remaining matches and hope the other results go their way, before they can be assured of finals action.

Riley Slack (2 goals) was our best, closely followed by Lachlan Bowler, acting captain Carlton Hollsten (2 goals), Lachlan Spehr, Julian Tripodi and Isaac Ivancic.

This week the side is away to Henley who are sitting just inside the 5.

D Grade - R17

Unfortunately, the Steve Edwards "Invitational 18" was outclassed by a stronger opponent on the weekend. Final scores : ROCS 5.4 to Golden Grove 12.13. (Half time : 2.1 to 4.10.).

Ben Davies was our best player, and was well supported by veterans Sam Bridge and Matt Sauer. Others to try hard included the improving Adam Goodwin, Anthony Cream and Michael Trevarrow.

ROCS have finished third at the end of the minor round with 10 wins and 6 losses, and this week will begin their finals campaign.

They are scheduled to again face Golden Grove at Harpers Field, in the Qualifying Final (@ 12.15pm).
