R7 games - A's, B's, C's & D Grade Reports

D Grade

In a very closely fought contest, the D's took the points at Park 10 on Saturday. ROCS led by 4 points at every break, but Adelaide Uni hit the front in the last quarter, before ROCS stormed home to win :  8.8 to 5.8.

Michael Trevarrow
and Anthony Creame performed well again, and others to play well included Henry Dawson, Will Sullivan, Max McKay and skipper Paul Norris. Luke Du Bois booted a couple of important goals in a cameo performance. Next week ROCS play PAOC at home (10.15 a.m.), and have the opportunity to consolidate their spot in the top 5, leading into the bye.

** Stevo “Super Coach” Edwards will be coaching his 200th club game this Saturday **

C Grade

ROCS were very impressive in defeating Goodwood Saints at home. In somewhat slippery conditions, both sides played a good brand of football, with ROCS eventually winning the game : 8.9 to 6.6.

Cale Elefsen
was very good in his ROCS debut. "Spozza" McSporran provided plenty of drive. Dan Gilbert was inspirational with his 4 goals. Riley Slack played his best game for the club. Harry Carter and Michael De Palma were others to impress.

Congratulations
to vice-captain Carlton "Jesaulenko"  Hollsten, on reaching his 50th game for  ROCS. ROCS next play Uni away, at 10.15, in a clash which sees 4th play 5th.

B Grade

Damien Polkinghorne's B Grade faced a tough match against Goodwood Saints, and came out winners : 8.6 to 5.8. Whilst consistency has not been one of the team's strengths thus far this season, the side was very good on Saturday.

Chris Ash
and Joe Tarca were dominant. Adam Richter snared 3 goals and again played a vital part in a ROCS win. James Telfer is getting better with each game. Matthew Mignone and Jason Cavuoto were also high in the best player list. Tom McCormack and Dylan Fitzsimons kicked 2 important goals each in a low-scoring match. The B's are away to Uni on Saturday, and will be hoping for back-to-back wins before the bye.

A Grade

In a very important game for the A Grade, we started the game with real urgency around the football, our tackling pressure was up and we were very clean with ball in hand. Our spread from stoppage forward and defensively was much improved from last week. Tim Baccanello and Luke Manual worked back really well into defence and found a lot of footy in doing so. Daniel McCallum was really strong around stoppage and used the ball well, this resulted in a lot more scoring opportunities. James Butterworth definitely out played his highly rated opponent in the ruck battle and Tullio DeMattieus gave us great run on his wing.

Our back six were awesome. Kieran Holland was catching everything coming his way, despite the wet conditions. Anthony McCarthy, Ben Jonas, Will Mead and Charles Jordan locked down really well while also giving us plenty of drive out of defence. We looked dangerous going forward. Heath Commane (4 goals) got in very smart positions early in the game and then played a really unselfish role late in the game. This allowed a lot of space for Patrick Dawson (4 goals) and Paul Fantasia to work in.

We were never headed in a much needed return to form running out 78 point winners. Congratulations to Jackson Suttcliffe who played his first A grade game for the club and acquitted himself very well.

This week against Uni won’t be an easy game, as we know they always get up to play us, especially on their home deck. We must come with that same attitude and your support would be greatly appreciated.
