Coaches Report - R18
A's home by 7 goals + the B's home by 3 points to secure a spot in the finals
A Grade Report
Despite pretty tough conditions we played some composed football and were fairly consistent over four quarters.
Modbury threatened when they had the wind in the third quarter and again at the start of the last but we rose to the challenge each time to record a convincing victory in a good warm up for the finals. It was good to get Tom Wigley back after missing 6 games as he is an important player for us and a number of players are finding better form in the last couple of weeks.
Our training has been excellent of late and the mood around the club is very positive as all teams head into finals next weekend. Better players were Ryan Holm who was quite exceptional in defence, Drew Litster, Peter Baccanello, John Corbett, Craig Holm and Will O'Malley.Ladies Day was a great success and it was good to see so many supporting the club.

B Grade Report
With both sides on the same win/ loss ration, the game proved to be an elimination final with the winner likely to participate in finals action. Modbury started well into the breeze and kicked the first 2 goals of the game. We fought back late in the first to take a small lead into qtr time. Our second term into the breeze was solid and set up a 3 goal lead into half time. Again in the 3rd term we looked more dangerous moving forward and whilst stretching the lead to 7 goals by 3 qtr time, we had missed many opportunities particularly from set shots to really kill the game off. To Modbury's credit and as we were expecting they threw everything at us in the last qtr. The wind they were kicking with blew up and once they got a sniff the pressure was mounting. In the end we managed to hold them off and with other results going our way secure a finals spot for the first time in 5 years.
It was a real team effort against a good opposition who were going after the same reward. Considering the youth we have across the board it was a significant victory. Led by John Harrison (4.4 goals), Green, Trenordan and Taylor in the middle, Clothier, Trimboli and Bannister providing continual rebound and some class from D Moyle and Hayden Edwards, at times we played some really skilful footy.
Looking back at the year, we certainly have been fairly consistent and a finals spot is well deserved as it is for all grades at the club who have fought back from some tough and baron times, particularly the last 3 years.
Congratulations also to the players and committee who organised the ladies day on Saturday. The day was a tremendous success and worthy of the wonderful support and assistance the partners, sisters, mothers and grandmothers provide during the football season. Thanks in particular to Kate, Birchy, Matt, Murph, Cheese and all who assisted with planning and running the day.
See you during the finals.
