B/C/D Grade Report - R4
Rino's ROCS Report - B/C/D - Round 4
B Grade
In a tough encounter ROCS were eventually beaten by SPOCS : 4.5 to 9.9. Josh O'Leary and Tom O'Leary were outstanding. Nich Scheid and Darren Leggett continued on with their good form, and Joe Tarca battled hard once again. Tom McCormack was our only multiple goal-scorer with 2. The task doesn't get any easier for Polky's team this week when they face unbeaten Port Districts, at the Campbelltown Memorial Oval. Adam Richter has been a permanent fixture for the ROCS B grade in the past few seasons. A good user of the football, and particularly dangerous around goals, Adam continues to be an important member of the team and was again a solid contributor on the weekend. James Telfer from Roxby Districts made his ROCS debut on Saturday.
C Grade
Coach Mark Twiggs guided the C grade to a comfortable 9.13 - 4.5 away victory against SPOCS. Speedy Julian Tripodi was best on ground, followed by Jason Cavuoto, skipper Jarrod Varley, Lachlan Spehr, Elliot Shirley and 100-gamer John McCarron. Mick Aloisi kicked 3 in his first game for the season. With clean hands and a kicking style all his own, "Spozza" McCarron rarely plays a bad game, and has been a great ROCS clubman over a long period of time. Next week the C's play Port District in the morning game.
D Grade
The young ROCS line-up was outclassed at the Quarry on Saturday, going down to Old Ignatians 5.7 to 20.10. Up against a more experienced opposition, ROCS struggled from the start. Oliver Bowler was our best -" The Sheriff" impressing in a variety of positions. Michael Trevarrow was our next best, followed by Matt Sauer (until injured), Hamish Massie and Nick "Bang-Bang" Bartold. Lawson Nitschke and George Connelly made their ROCS debut. This weekend the D's have a 4.45 pm home game, against Payneham Norwood Union.
Match-Day Staff: With the imminent return of Keith Norris (D's), coupled with the arrival of David Moyle(B's) and John Lewis (C's), the club is well set for Team Managers in 2019. Steve Russo has also helped out, and Paul Mead has joined Dean Lord, Bob Sutherland and Wayne Leggett as Match Day Officials/Timekeepers. Please advise if you are interested in also helping out in any of these areas.
** With 3 extra players making their debut on Saturday, the total number of known footballers to have represented ROCS has now reached the 1400 mark. **
**Last week's A grade final score of 28.17 to 1.7 set a couple of club records. The 28.17 equalled the highest score by a ROCS A grade team in Div 1 (matching last year's 28.17 against Modbury) **
** The winning margin of 172 points was ROCS' greatest in Div 1A, bettering the previous margin of 130 points set against Portland in 2015 (27.10 to 6.6). **
