B/C/D Grade Report - R3
Rino's ROCS Reports - B/C/D - Round 3
The D Grade travelled to Harpers Field for their clash with Golden Grove. Both sides had won their opening two games of the season in the Club 18 competition.
In a closely fought tussle, ROCS were eventually beaten 13.6 to 10.10, after surrendering the lead in the last quarter. Max Lawrance played his best game for the club.
Glenn Castellano, Anthony Cream, Steve Marotti (3 goals), Matt Sauer and Simon Emanuele (Best Team Man) were other valuable contributors, along with skipper
Paul Norris and Matthew Zamparelli (3 goals each).
Next week the D's host neighbouring Old Ignatians in a stand-alone match at the Campbelltown Oval, from 2.15pm.
The C's kicked off the ROCS triple-header against Tea Tree Gully at the Quarry. ROCS were in control for most of the day, leading by 5 goals at half-time and at 3 quarter time, running out winners 13.7 to 6.6. Tom Matsis was brilliant, closely followed by Dan Gilbert (5 goals). Jason Cavuoto and Elliot Shirley were impressive in their first outing of the season. Justin McInerney was again solid in the ruck and captain Jarrod Varley
provided plenty of drive and leadership. Carlton "Jesaulenko" Hollsten was an important focal point, finishing with 4 majors. John "Spozza" McCarron is set to play game 100 this weekend.
Coach Damien Polkinghorne was keen to have a win before the B Grade's season went much further. The players responded accordingly with ROCS taking the points 7.4 to 5.7, after injuries to key players had threatened to derail "Polky's" plans. Chris Ash and Connor Bristow were exceptional in the first 3 quarters. Zak Noonan, Mitchell Warren, Jackson Sutcliffe and Adam Richter all had fine games (Adam is due to play his 100th game this week).
This Saturday the B and C grades play SPOCS away, with both games starting at 12.15.
