A's record a 21 point win against PHOS and ensures a place in the finals
A Grade Report
Conditions were petty tough on Saturday, a really muddy ground, a tricky breeze, a quality opponent coming off a loss at home last week (after eight consecutive wins) who have lots of dangerous tall players.
We kicked into the breeze and started brilliantly, outscoring PHOS Camden 6 goals to 1. Thereafter, we continued to tackle and pressure well and to play some great running football. They were back to a deficit of 8 points at three quarter time, however,we had the breeze to finish and played a strong last quarter to win by 21 points, which has ensured our place in the finals, regardless of results this week.
We have earnt this position, which is important to the development of our club and the continued progress and experiences of our young players. Saturday is Ladies Day and the game is very important in terms of qualifying for a home final so we hope for a good crowd at Campbelltown. Modbury are always close rivals so it should be a good game.
Our effort on Saturday was very even and its hard to pick best players. Eventually, I decided on Craig Holm, Sam Bridge, John Corbett, Jack Nelligan, Matt Footner, and Anthony Medhurst with a number of others unlucky to miss out.

B Grade Report
It was a case of déjà vu for the B grade again on Saturday. We were competitive at the footy and won our fair share of the ball, but our skill level and inability to hit targets, and finish in front of goal cost us on the scoreboard. Kicking 0.4 and 2 out of bounds on the full in the first quarter with the breeze hurt us. For the day kicking with what was a 3-4 goal breeze we managed a conversion of 1.8 and 3 out of bounds on the full and when you loose a game by 17 pts that is the reason. We simply failed to capitalise on the good work of our defence and stoppage strength through the midfield. Sadly, we lack quality forwards with polish and they don't grow on trees.
Those who were at the game, would not question our effort and commitment to the ball, however in a competition so close, if you fail to take your opportunities over and over again, you won't achieve the goal you set out to and take the next step to play finals.
Congratulations to Andy O'Connor and Sam Bowler who played their 50th games for the club on Saturday. Both young men are a credit to their families as they are quality people and contribute energy and passion to the club both on and off the field. I'm sure they will both play many more games for our great club.
