Round 17 & Elim. Final D's Report

R17 A's, B's & C's vs Goodwood Saints & D Grade's great win in the Elimination Final vs North Haven

A Grade

The A's had an opportunity to secure top spot with one round to go, but unfortunately were beaten at Goodwood : 6.6 to 7.6. ROCS hit the front in the final quarter, but were unable to hang on for the win, with Goodwood Saints snaring 2 late goals. Patrick Dawson was brilliant, James Butterworth was on top in the ruck, Will O'Malley and Jack Nelligan provided plenty of drive, whilst Dan McCallum and Tom Hurley were solid all day. James Jordan was the Best Team Man. Scott Gilbert tried hard all day in his 150th appearance, and was very good in the last quarter in particular. Tullio De Matteis notched up his 50th game for ROCFC. "Tools" joined ROCS late in the 2015 season, having previously played juniors for Payneham Norwood Union, First XVIII for Rostrevor College, and League Football for Norwood. This Saturday ROCS are away to PAOC, and need a win to ensure they finish Minor Premiers .

B Grade

ROCS  fought hard but were eventually narrowly beaten 7.2 to 6.11. Peter Vorrasi continues to impress and was best on ground. Connor Deegan was again high in our best players, and Lachlan Bowler, Dylan Fitzsimons and Chris Pahl were creative throughout the game. Whilst assured of a finals berth, the B's now need to win on Saturday and rely on other results to go their way, before locking in the double chance.

C Grade

The C's had to beat Goodwood Saints to remain in the race for the finals, but despite their best efforts were eventually defeated 3.6 to 6.6.  Kane Cini and Tyler Gava were excellent all day, and others to play well included captain Matt Sauer, Jason Cavuoto, evergreen Simon Emanuele and the ever-reliable Darren Leggett. Stevo's team kick-off Saturday's tripleheader against Prince's, at Park 9 (10.15 a.m.).

D Grade

ROCS met North Haven in the Elimination Final at Foxfield Oval, having beaten them the previous week on the same ground. In a superb performance, ROCS ran out comfortable winners 17.15 to 7.12. Harry Simpson was named best on ground for ROCS. Others to impress included Max Tarca, Dan Gilbert (3 goals), Tom O'Leary, Justin McInerney and Jack Hill. Matthew Del Corso and Luke Du Bois kicked 3 goals each. The team now progresses to the 1st Semi-Final where they will meet Old Ignatians (away).  Coach Mark Twiggs and all ROCS supporters will be hoping for a repeat performance from the players.
