Round 7 Report

A's B's and C's vs Port District R7 & D Grade vs Uni R8

A Grade - R7

The A's were seemingly heading for another victory in their away match to Port District. Up by 24 points at the last break, ROCS kicked the first goal of the last quarter, before Port District kicked 8 unanswered goals, to win the encounter 10.8 to 13.9. Craig Holm was again very good and was named best. Jack Nelligan had an exceptional game and was instrumental in setting up our 3 quarter-time lead. Youngsters Nathan Surman and Lewis McCormack, together with Daniel McCallum and Charlie Jordan, were impassible for the majority of the game. Paul Fantasia kicked 3 majors. The loss was the A's  first defeat since going down to Modbury on August 5, 2017 (11 games ago). Well done to Will Mead on reaching his 50 game milestone, and to Dylan Fitzsimons on making his A Grade debut. ROCS has retained top spot, and this week are at Thebarton against Modbury. Skipper Will O'Malley is set to play his 150th.

B Grade - R7

After fighting hard for 3 quarters, the B's were eventually defeated 6.13 to 11.8. Poor kicking at goal didn't help the cause, with the half-time score line 3.10 to 3.4. Mitchell Warren was best, followed by Peter Vorrasi, Chris Pahl, Nick Scheid, Jack Draper and Zac Noonan. Congratulations to 2013 Div 1 premiership player John Harrison, on playing his 150th game for the club. Anthony Medhurst was impressive in his cameo performance, and hopefully will be available for many more. The team has slipped to 4th on percentage, and this week will be keen to return to its winning ways, in the clash with Modbury.

C Grade - R7

We were totally outplayed by Port District in the C Grade, and were defeated 1.4 to 11.4. Jason Cavuoto continues to impress after a late start to the season, whilst the experienced Matt Sauer and Simon Emanuele were not going down without a fight. Michael Boffa, Carlton Hollsten and Nathan Czernich all had their moments. Whilst it is not quite the start we have become accustomed to from the C's, they are only one game away from fourth spot, and have time to put their season back on course - hopefully starting with a victory against Modbury this Saturday. The C's kick off the Thebarton triple-header at 10.15 am.

D Grade - R8

Adelaide University beat our D's for the second time this season. Final scores: ROCS 2.6  Uni 11.11. It was always going to be a tough test with the team playing away, and with ROCS having a few players unavailable in the higher grades. Lachlan Bowler was best on ground, and Dan Franzon continued on with his fine form. Jack Munchenberg  played his best game for the club, and others to impress were Anthony Onofrio and Will Sullivan. Best Team Man was evergreen Sam Bridge in his 146th appearance for the club. The team has another tough encounter on Saturday, travelling to Largs North Reserve to play North Haven (2.15 pm).

We wish all our teams the best of luck for this week's round of matches, before enjoying a week off for the June long weekend.
