Round 15 Report

A's & B's vs Modbury & C's vs Goody Saints

ROCS were away in all 3 grades on the weekend.

In wintery conditions, the C's travelled to Goodwood, and for the second time this season, were narrowly defeated by Goody Saints. Down by 3 goals at half time in a low scoring match, ROCS fought back to hit the front in the last quarter, but were eventually beaten by  4 points : 5.5 to 6.3. Trent Versace was our best, followed by John McCarron, Tom O'Leary, Sam Du Bois, Elliot Shirley and John Harrison with 2 goals. The loss leaves the team hanging on to second spot on percentage.

The B's were too good for Modbury, at Modbury. Despite the heavy conditions, both sides kicked accurately, and ROCS ran out winners 16.6 to 7.1. Ollie Wilkie was best on ground, and others to play very well included Jack Tagg (4 goals), Liam Holland (6 goals), and the reliable Tom O'Malley and Chris Pahl. In the next game, ROCS (second) face top side Adelaide Uni, who were defeated for the first time on Saturday.

The A's played poorly, and were defeated by a side that was more desperate, and better suited to the conditions. Final scores: ROCS 7.11 Modbury 9.7. A slow start saw ROCS trail by 26 points at quarter time, and 29 at the main break. Despite rallying in the last quarter, ROCS were not quite able to bridge the gap, and lost by 8 points. Jimmy Jordan was our best, and others on the best players list included Sam Jonas, Braden Allen, Ben Jonas and Tim Baccanello. Heath Commane kicked 3 goals. This week the A's play Adelaide University who are just outside the top 5.

With just 3 rounds left,  ROCS are well positioned in all grades, but still have some work to do, before they can lock in their current positions on the ladder.

This week's milestones should include : Charlie O'Malley 150, Michael Boffa 50, Mark Dzido 50 and Kieran Noell 50. All sides are away to Adelaide University in this week's triple-header.
