Round 14 Report
ROCS vs Pt Districts away & President's Luncheon Photo's
Back after a week off, ROCS won all 3 grades in Saturday's away games against Port District.
In windy conditions, the C's ran out comfortable winners 14.7 to 5.8. Kristian "The Doctor" Burchett was tenacious and voted best. Michael Boffa was constructive all day, Mick Aloisi (5 goals) keeps providing a focal point up forward, Simon Emanuele was courageous as always, Sam Du Bois was dominant in the ruck , and Sam "Fossil" Newman was also impressive. This week "Supercoach" Edwards' C Grade are away again, and face Goodwood Saints (third) , in what promises to be a tough encounter.
The B Grade had an excellent win against Port District, a team fighting for a finals spot. Up by only 7 points at the main break, ROCS eventually won the game 15.7 to 6.3. Luke Manuel was outstanding, as he works his way back from injury. Chris Pahl (3 goals) showed his class, Nick Dinham (5 goals) had a very good second half, Ollie Wilkie played well after a few weeks off, whilst Scott Gilbert and Zac Noonan continued on with their fine seasons. The B's have locked-in the double chance with 4 games of the minor round to go, and this week are away to Modbury who are just outside the top five. Coach Damien Polkinghorne will be looking to settle the side down as it nears the finals, and more players become available.
The A's met third-placed Port District in the main game, at Largs Reserve. Always a tough away fixture, coach Adrian Rocco would have been satisfied with the win, and the 2 points. Down by 3 goals at half-time, the team rallied and ran out winners 15.8 to 12.11. Braden Allen and Craig Holm were superb. Anthony Medhurst was very good in the second half in particular, whilst Tullio DeMatteis, Kieran Holland, Heath Commane (6 goals), Michael Coad (4 goals), Tim Baccanello and Daniel McCallum all had fine games. The win puts the team 3 games clear in top spot, with 4 rounds to go before the Finals. This week the A's are away to the Modbury Hawks, who are striving to avoid relegation, and desperate for a win.
