Round 13 Report
ROCS vs SPOCS triple-header.
ROCS were away to SPOCS in Saturday's triple-header.
As is the norm nowadays when we play St Peter's away, the B's and C's played at the same time, on adjacent ovals.
The C Grade won convincingly, 13.14 to 4.9. Mick Aloisi was our best, leading the way with 5 majors. Michael "Thursday-night special" De Palma was excellent, and others to play very well included Dylan McPeake, Nathan Czernich, Matthew "Surfer-Boy" Bosch and Sam DuBois. Congratulations to Glenn Norris on reaching the 50 game milestone. It has been a while coming, but he is enjoying his footy - playing in the same side as his younger brother Paul, which is managed by their Dad Keith. "Super-Coach" Edwards has the team in second spot, and whilst ROCS are fighting with Modbury for pole position, it still has some work to do to lock in a double-chance for the finals.
Damien Polkinghorne's B Grade had a resounding victory over SPOC, 18.10 to 3.2. Zachary "Noons" Noonan has been a great addition to the club, and he continued on with his fine season, being named best on ground. Nick Hombsch (3 goals) was impressive, as were Charlie Jordan, Tom O'Malley and the consistent Scott Gilbert. Other better players were Liam Holland (4 goals), Mitch Sutcliffe, Adam Richter, Joe Tarca and skipper for the day, Matt Walker. With 5 minor round games remaining, the B's have all-but secured a double chance,
ROCS won the A grade encounter, 18.15 to 9.3. Up by 5 goals at half time, the team were unchallenged for most of the game. Skipper, Will O'Malley was our best. Heath Commane had a day out with 7 goals, whilst Tullio DeMatteis and Will Mead were as constructive as ever. Jack Nelligan and Kieran Holland were both very good, and amongst others to play well were Tim Baccanello, Paul Fantasia (5 goals), Tom Hurley and Brendan Littler. Coach Adrian Rocco would be very happy with the team sitting in top spot after 13 rounds, with a 2 game buffer and healthy percentage ahead of its closest challengers, Tea Tree Gully and Port District.
All three grades have this week off, before resuming with an away triple-header against Port District.
