Round 8 Report
Vs Uni triple-header at Campbelltown Memorial Oval
Round 8 saw ROCS up against Adelaide University, in a triple-header at Campbelltown Memorial Oval.
The Red and Blacks got away to a great start, with the C grade beating Uni 12.10 to 5.2. Liam Holland kicked 4, Paul "Chuck" Norris 3, and Mick Aloisi, Tom Carpinelli, Simon Emanuele, Ryan Grigg and Dylan McPeake 1 each. Grigg was best on ground, followed by Norris, John "Spos" McCarron, Joe Tarca, Kristian "Doctor" Burchett and Nick Holland in his first game for the year. The win keeps Stevo Edwards' team in top spot - undefeated after 8 matches, and with a percentage of 76.49.
The B's then played Adelaide Uni, in the top of the table clash between the two unbeaten sides. After a poor first half, ROCS worked hard to get back into the game, and were still a chance late in the last quarter - eventually going down 9.10 to 12.7.
Chris Ash was our best player. Trent Versace was very good, as was Scott Gilbert who continues to impress. Sam Bowler and Chris Pahl were also high in our best players. Goal-scorers were Ash 2, Gilbert 2, Adam Richter 2, Anthony "Prez" Medhurst 1 (in his 249th game for the club), Tom O'Malley 1, and Versace 1. Special thanks to Mick Aloisi for playing in two games, as a result of a late withdrawal.
The A's continued on their winning run, defeating Adelaide Uni: 12.14 to 6.10. ROCS led 4.4 to 1.2 at quarter time, but Uni rallied to only trail by 11 points at the main break. ROCS kicked 4.3 to 0.5 in the last term, to run out convincing winners.
Kieran Holland starred, Craig Holm was close to his best, and Will O'Malley led by example. Ben Jonas was very impressive after being a late call-up, and Tom Hurley (3 goals) was his normal creative self. Others to play well included Luke Allen, Heath Commane and Ollie Wilkie. The A's have now won their past 5 games and remain on top of the ladder.
The next round of matches will be on June 17. The club will play a home triple-header against Goodwood Saints, who are third on the table in all three grades.
Enjoy the break.
