Round 6 - Triple header vs Port District
Round 6 saw ROCS play Port District in a triple-header at ROC Park.
The C Grade had a comprehensive victory : 23.14 to 5.1. Trent Versace was brilliant and Liam Holland outstanding with his 9 goal return. Nathan Czernich was strong at the ball, and Harrison Twiggs carried the rucks in his first game for the club. Joe Tarca , Carlton "Jesaulenko" Hollsten and Thomas Carpinelli with 3 goals, were others to impress. Congratulations to Matthew Zamparelli on reaching his 100 game milestone for the club.
"Super-Coach" Edwards has his undefeated team sitting in pole position, and this week faces SPOC at home in the 10.15 game. Thanks to Luke "Moses" DuBois and Daniel Farrugia for filling in as Field Umpires the past two weeks.
Damien Polkinghorne guided the B's to a comfortable victory over Port District : 11.10 to 5.6. Chris Pahl was best on ground. Zak Noonan continues to play well, whilst Mitch Sutcliffe, Tom O'Malley and Anthony Medhurst were all impressive. John Harrison was the leading goal-scorer with three majors. The B's remain undefeated, and are sitting in equal top position. This week's home game against 4th placed Modbury promises to be a tough encounter.
The A's had a convincing win against Port Districts Up by 20 points at half-time, ROCS ran out the game to win 19.12 to 7.17. Skipper Will O'Malley was our best, closely followed by Craig Holm, Tim Baccanello, James Jordan, Jacob Gillbee (4 goals) and Heath Commane (4 goals). Coach "Rock" has the side in top spot, and this week are home to the newly-promoted Modbury Hawks (5th).
The season is already a third of the way through the Minor Round, and I would like to thank some of our dedicated officials who have helped to ensure that Match Days have run smoothly: Bob Holland (Match-Day Official),Wahib Joubeir (Physio),Wayne Leggett (MDO), Vicki Lines (Head Trainer), Dean Lord (Time-Keeper/MDO), Brenton "Speed" Oxenham ("Scoreboard Operations"), Bob Sutherland (MDO), Trainers : Ben Ferrauto, Lauren Harrington, Paige Mudge, and James Peters, Team Managers Phil Franklyn and Keith Norris, and C Grade Club Umpires, Phil Shaw (Field)/Al Migliore (Goal). Also, special thanks to "utility" Gus Kerr, for helping out in a variety of roles already this season.
