Round 4 Report
ROCS vs SPOC A's & B's and C's vs PAOC
Campbelltown Memorial Oval was the venue for Round 4, in all three grades.
The C Grade had a battle on their hands early, but eventually ran over PAOC : 16.11 to 7.7.
Mick Aloisi was best on ground, continuing on with his fine form. Liam Holland kicked 5 goals in an impressive debut for the club. Liam is the fourth of the "Dutchy" brothers to have played at the "Quarry".
Josh Weaver was excellent in his 50th game, as was Kieran Noell. The boy from "St. Helen's" (St. Kevin's) was again very dangerous around the goals, and finished with 5 majors. Congratulations to the two other debutants, Chris Hall-Travini and Will Critchley.
Coach Stevo Edwards' team continues on its undefeated run, and are now on top of the table. This week they face Adelaide Uni (second), in the 10.15 game.
The B grade dominated their encounter against SPOCS, winning 13.16 to 1.2, holding their opponents goal-less after quarter-time. Braden Allen was brilliant, Matthew Walker and Zak Noonan (3 goals) were very impressive, as were Scott Gilbert, Chris Ash and John Harrison (4 goals).
Damien Polkinghorne's side also remains unbeaten, and now meet Salisbury North at home.
The A's prepared themselves well for their danger game against SPOCS, and flew out of the box, kicking 6.1 to 0.0 in the first quarter . Final scores were ROCS 16.14 to SPOCS 8.9.
Luke Allen was our best with a faultless display in defence, followed by Kieran Holland, James Butterworth, Mitch Sutcliffe, Tim Baccanello, and Will O'Malley. Craig Holm, Nick Hombsch, James Jordan and Heath Commane (4 goals), all had their moments.
The next challenge will be at home, against Salisbury North, this week. "Rock" is sure to have the team fired-up in what promises to be a tough clash.
It was a good day for the club in all 3 grades - not often are we successful against Princes and Saints on the same day - and the "Choomalaka" got another run.
