Round 2 Report

R2 Vs Payneham Norwood Union

On a perfect day for footy, ROCS' three teams were at home to Payneham Norwood Union.

The C Grade got us off to a very good start, wining their encounter 17.13 to 2.5.

Joe Tarca was named best, followed by Ryan Grigg, Mick Aloisi, Josh O'Leary and Matthew Bosch.

Paul "Chuck" Norris headed the goal-kicking with 3 majors.

Debutants Chris Latella and Anthony "Switch" Onofrio also got on the scoresheet with singles.

Next week the C Grade is up against fellow undefeated side Modbury, in a stand-alone game at the Quarry.
Sam "Foss" Newman is due to play his 50th.

The B's again had a very strong looking side, and eventually got the job done 10.13 to 9.7.

Nathan Hornhardt was outstanding, Connor Deegan was very good in his first hit-out for 2017,

Ollie Wilkie, Anthony Medhurst, Beau Williamson and Ben Jonas were others to stand out.

Blake Mios booted 3 in his first B Grade match for the club - Zak Noonan and Matthew Walker chipped in with 2 each.

In front of a good crowd, the A's then took on one of our biggest rivals - Payneham Norwood Union.

Down 5 goals at quarter time, and 3 at the main break, ROCS had an excellent third term, running out winners 15.9 to 13.11.

Craig Holm was best on ground, Charlie O'Malley was excellent in defence, whilst Tom Hurley, Paul Fantasia, Tullio DeMatteis, Brendan Littler and Tim Baccanello were very important contributors.

Adrian "Rock" Rocco and the boys, now meet Tea Tree Gully - a Grand Finalist last year - on their home deck.

Should be a great match - the players/committee hope to see as many ROCS supporters as possible at the game, and then at the POVS event back at the College.
