Finals - Week 2 Report

C's vs Athestone - 1st Semi-Final

The C's played Athelstone in the 1st Semi-Final at Thebarton Oval, in Saturday's early game. Athelstone proved to be too good, winning the match 12.2 to 5.7.

ROCS' chances were not helped by injuries, before and during the encounter, but the Raggies had all the answers on the day. The better players included Nick McDonough, Joe Tarca, Sam Tagg, Matthew Zamparelli and Michael De Palma.

Congratulations to Haydn Edwards on reaching his 100 game milestone, and Matthew McPeake his 50th.

During the week, the SAAFL's 2016 Team of the Year was announced. Heath Commane (Forward Pocket)  was our sole representative. "Heater" was runner-up in this year's Div1 goal-kicking award (he won it in 2014 and 2015).

The A Grade Association Medal was won by Tea Tree Gullies' Alex McKay, polling 22 votes. Tim Baccanello (12 votes) and Craig Holm (10 votes) were our best performers on the night.

The A Grade coaching position was advertised earlier in the week. We again thank caretaker coach Tom Wigley for all his efforts after taking on the role in the second half of the season.
