Roc's vs Salisbury North - triple-header
The ROCS were away to Salisbury North on the weekend, in another triple-header.
The C's were superb in Steve Edwards' 150th game as coach. Needing a percentage boost to regain top spot, they got away to a solid start and led by 9 goals at half-time. They held their opponents goal-less until very late in the last quarter, eventually running out winners : 15.8 to 1.11.
Sam Tagg was named best on ground, followed by Matt Sauer and Joe Tarca. Tom Moore (3 goals) provided a target up forward, and Hamish Kernahan had his best game for the year. Marcus Quinn reached his 50 game milestone for the ROCFC. The C's have now moved to first (on percentage) with one minor round game remaining.
The B grade got away to a slow start, and then played catch-up for the remainder of the match. Final scores : 7.5 to 14.16. Ryan Grigg was our best, continuing on with his excellent form in the second half of the season. Beau Williamson and Nick Holland were impressive again, whilst "evergreens" Sam Bridge and Scott Littler were also high in our best player list. Adam Richter chipped in with a couple of goals, as did Matthew Zamparelli (after kicking 3 in the earlier game).
Down by 21 points at 3 quarter-time, the A's were outplayed in the last term, eventually going down to Salisbury North by 44 points. Tim Baccanello was very good, as was Daniel Bell, Heath Commane (3 goals) was dangerous, whilst Will O'Malley and Luke Allen tried hard for 4 quarters. The A's are guaranteed of at least 4th spot (and a home final), and are still in the hunt for a double-chance.
All 3 grades are playing Henley at Campbelltown Memorial Oval this Saturday, in the last minor round series of the 2016 season - hope to see you there.
