Round 11 Report
Round 11 triple-header vs Goodwood Saints.
ROCS were back at Campbelltown Memorial Oval for a Round 11 triple-header, against Goodwood Saints.
The C Grade got us off to a great start, defeating Goody Saints by 37 points. Sam Tagg starred again, Tom Moore played his best game for the season, and the defence was held together by the consistent John "McSpozza" McCarron, and the experienced Matt Sauer and Simon Emanuele.
It was an important 2 points for the C grade. They are currently in second spot, and well placed to gain a double-chance.
The B Grade was up against top side Goodwood Saints.
The game defied the team's positions on the ladder, as ROCS pushed their opponents all the way. 7 points down at the last break, ROCS were eventually defeated : 11.11 to 16.3. Henry Schilling was best on ground, and other good players included Will Mead, John Harrison, Lachlan Kitson, Josh O'Leary and Lachlan Sutcliffe. Ben Yates kicked 3 goals, and Sam Bridge was back for a cameo.
In a must win game to stay in touch with third spot, and the coveted double chance, the A grade ran out convincing 44 point winners.
Tom Hurley and Craig Holm were superb, closely followed by Kieran Holland, Paul Fantasia (4 goals), and Sam Du Bois in his return to the A grade. Congratulations to Luke "Gubby" Allen on playing his 50th game for the club.
The 3 grades are home again this week. The A's and C's will be striving to continue their charge for the finals, whilst a B grade win will see them get off the bottom of the table. Great clubman Sam Bowler is set to play his 150th this weekend.
