Round 8 Report

R8 vs Uni Report

In near perfect conditions, ROCS travelled to Adelaide University for its Round 8 triple-header.

The undefeated C  Grade were quick out of the blocks, and enjoyed a 19 point lead at quarter time. Uni gradually got on top however, and ROCS eventually went down by 4 points, despite a late charge.

Joe Tarca
was adjudged our best, and others to do well included Sam Tagg, Sam Lynch and Nick McDonough. Stalwart Tom Moore (3 goals) provided a good target up forward, in his first game for the season. The C's have retained top spot despite this week's loss.

The somewhat depleted B Grade struggled against the Blacks, and eventually went down by 53 points. Congratulations to Dan Gilbert (2 goals) on reaching his 100 game milestone. Adam Richter was our best player, and others who impressed were Trent Versace, Sam Du Bois, Ben Yates and skipper Sam Bowler.

We look forward to the B Grade turning their season around after this week's bye.

After an even first quarter, the A Grade was soundly beaten by Uni. Down by 19 points at half-time, we were outworked and outplayed in the second half, finally going down by 73 points. James Butterworth, Mitch Sutcliffe and Kieran Holland, battled hard in defence, whilst
Tom Hurley and Craig Holm were our best around the ball.

In one of the good news stories of our year thus far, Brendan Littler played his 50th game for the club. After missing the entire 2015 season with a serious knee injury, Brendan has played every game this year.

Craig Holm and Tom Hurley are currently in the SA squad to play against Victoria this weekend. A Grade coach Sean Jackson will coach the team. Tom, Heath Commane and Will O'Malley represented City versus Country in the MAC Cup, earlier in the year.

The A Grade is hopeful of regaining  several players from injury after this week's break and are keen to get back to Campbelltown Memorial Oval for a home game. Currently sitting in fourth spot, the side faces Salisbury North in another very important clash.
