Round 7 Report
R7 vs Payneham
The A's travelled to Payneham with high hopes, but despite only trailing by 7 points at three quarter time, were over-run late in the game, and eventually went down: 10.3 to 14.12.
James Jordan was our best player, also winning the player's MVP award for his role. Craig Holm and Tom Hurley were prolific ball-winners, Nathan Surman (3 goals) and Heath Commane (5 goals) provided targets up forward, and James Butterworth battled hard in defence.
Congratulations to Jordan Carrocci on playing his first A Grade game for the club.
The B Grade was not able to repeat last week's effort, and were disappointing in their 32 points loss. Down by 4 goals at half time, ROCS was not able to bridge the gap, despite scoring some late goals in the final quarter.
Lachlan Kitson and Josh O'Leary continue to improve, Will Mead was once again high in our best players, and the experienced
Mick Aloisi and Jordan Lyons were fine contributors. Ben Jonas (2 goals) played his first game for ROCS, and was impressive when moved to the forward lines.
The C Grade travelled to Sacred Heart Middle School, and stretched their winning run to 6, defeating our traditional rivals by 15 points (8.8 to 5.11).
Amongst our best players were Sam Tagg, Joe Tarca, Tom Carpinelli (2 goals), Marcus Quinn, and Ben Yates.
Sam Lynch played a solid game in his 50th appearance for the club.
After 7 rounds, 98 players have represented the club - 17 for the first time.
This week we are away again in an important triple-header against Adelaide University, and we hope to see the ROCS supporters roll up in force - the following week we have a bye.
