Coaches Report - R11
Rd 11 Vs TTG at Petaringa Oval.
We went into this match with a plan that we felt would make the game a genuine contest that would give ourselves the best chance of winning. But unfortunately we weren’t able to execute on the day and we were overpowered by a hard running and skilful opposition.
Following losses like this it is difficult not to be too negative as there was a lot not to like about our performance. We struggled to win the ball at the contest and when we did, too often we turned it over with poor decisions and skill execution. There is no doubt that TTG out worked us throughout the four quarters too, which was the most disappointing aspect of our game.
Despite positives being hard to find in such a loss, there were a few. Our centre clearance work was quite good for the full four quarters. Oliver Wilkie, playing in only his second A grade game competed manfully and showed he has what it takes to be a good player at this level and Jack Nelligan played with composure and found plenty of the ball all day.
We are hopeful of having a few more senior players available this week as we go about working hard to return playing at the level that we are capable of.
