A Grade Report
This was a pretty scrappy game in difficult conditions where we played a strong last quarter to get home after a pretty even first three quarters. They are a quality team with some outstanding players so it was good to get a win, especially as they beat us earlier in the year.
The challenge for us is to find better consistency over four quarters and to be more efficient up forward. Better players were Damien Moyle, Luke Manuel, Ryan Holm, Scott Gilbert, Peter Baccanello and Jack Nelligan.
Thanks to the large crowd of sponsors and supporters for their positive (and vocal) support on a big day for the club. Hopefully, we can continue to give you something to cheer about in the coming weeks.

With 4 of our most consistent players missing it was going to be a challenging game against SPOC who are the only side to defeat University in our competition this year. As expected it was a competitive encounter for most of the day. I thought we looked more dangerous than them moving forward, however we could only manage 7.14, which is the main reason the scoreboard was a lot closer than it probably should have been. Jules Ryan (0.7) was energetic and strong on the lead, Sheedy and McKenzie were also strong targets and were difficult for SPOC to match up on. Eamon Hanna, Ryan Castallano and Tom Taylor feed off Sam Dubois and Russell Brooks and continually gave us momentum and proactivity through the middle. Our defence as has been the case for most of the year were outstanding, a tight nit group with excellent understanding between each other, led by Paul Bannister and Paul Norris.
At times we looked very polished with our run and carry and use of the ball to lead up targets. Unfortunately, at times our forwards missed basic opportunities to finish off the good work, however we can improve this with hard work and repetition on the track.
In the end, it was a game we deserved to win and we did, although not pretty. Pleasingly, with the number of quality personnel missing, when challenged as a team each individual responded and all contributed to a moral boosting win.
Eastern Park provides us with another big challenge this week and we need to regain some pride and respect after our disappointing trek out there in Round 3.

C Grade Report
Following last week's shellacking at the hands of Uni the C's sought to rebound against SPOC at the prestigious school grounds. Unfortunately the C's performance couldn't match our elite surroundings as we went down by 19 points.
In an encouraging first half we seemed to be back on track, our endeavour was much improved, our ball movement was more precise and the run and rebound was impressive. A 17 point first half lead was a just reward for our effort.
As positive as the first half was, the second half well and truly undid our constructive efforts. The lethargy and uncertainty from last week returned as we were completely overrun by a more determined and committed SPOC team. One point was the pathetic output from our second half and in truth it was all we deserved as we basically "turned it up" after half time.
Our best player on the day was Sam Newman, who played his best game for the club thus far, Sam's attack on the ball and run and carry were a real highlight. Others who played well were acting captain Tom Deegan who was awesome at half back, Chris Nutchey who revelled in the heavier conditions and Daniel Baillie who provided great drive all day.
To further dampen an ordinary day Bobby Sandland seemed to suffer a severe knee injury in the first quarter. Bobby is a sensational club man who has fought back brilliantly from injury in the past, hopefully the prognosis this time is as positive as possible.
