2nd Semi-final vs Goodwood at Goodwood.

A Grade Report - 2nd Semi-final vs Goodwood at Goodwood.

This was a very even match for the entire day and despite us having the majority of the ball in the first quarter the scores were locked away at the first break with both sides having 2.3 on the score board.

Goodwood’s high skill level and ability to make the most of their opportunities was on full display in the second quarter. This resulted in Goodwood kicking 5.0 for the quarter to our 2.5 which gave them a 13 point lead at half time.

The third quarter was much the same as the first two, with both sides having their fair share of the ball. However, the momentum had clearly shifted towards Goodwood during this quarter as they continued to kick some great goals. Our players battled hard during this quarter but Goodwood were able to extend their lead by the last break.  Three quarter time scores: ROCs 6.10 (46) to Goodwood 10.6 (66).

Being 20 points down at 3 quarter time and having only registered 6 goals for the first three quarters the players showed great character and will to win to kick 6.2 in the last quarter to claim an exciting 4 point win. This means we go into the Grand Final with the week off next Saturday. Goodwood will play Henley in the Preliminary Final on Saturday the 13th at Goodwood Oval.

It was great to see so many ROCs supporters there supporting the players. I’m sure you all had a great day seeing the B’s and A’s both having close hard fought wins and earning a right to compete in their respective Grand Final’s on September 20.

This win has given the A grade an opportunity to play our 3rd division 1 Grand Final in 12 months. It is now up to us to make the most of this opportunity and you can be assured we will prepare accordingly.
