Coaches Report - R12

Rd 12 V SPOC (away)

With 5 forced changes to our side from the following week due to injuries, travel and exams, there’s always the unknown factor of how we’ll perform with that many changes. With this in mind I was pleased to see us start the game with real energy and aggression. Young Nick Hombsch was playing his first A grade game and started extremely well, kicking 3 of our 6 first quarter goals. 19 year old Nathan Surman, who also came into the side was busy up forward and certainly looks comfortable at this level.

Despite a heavy and muddy oval we were able to play with real fluency at times and our ball use was generally quite efficient. We also defended hard as a team which helped restrict SPOC to 5.6 (36) for the match. We extended our lead at every break and pleasingly never took our foot off the pedal to eventually win the match by 98 points, ROCS 20.14 (134) to SPOC 5.6 (36).

Next week we play 4th placed TTG at home. The last time we played them it was a great contest that we were able to win by 19 points. They are a very talented side and they have the ability to kick big scores, so we look forward to the challenge of playing them. I hope to see a lot of ROCs supporters at Campbelltown Oval to support the boys and enjoy some top class Div 1 Amateur League Football.

The after match presentations following our game against TTG this week will be in the Campbelltown Sports Club, followed by the Mr ROC extravaganza. So hang around the club for what promises to be an entertaining night!
