A's & B's record good wins against Modbury
A Grade Report
Modbury at Modbury is always a tough ask and Saturday was no exception. They were very competitive and our footy was more inconsistent than I would like. We were very accurate in the first three quarters and our pressure skills in the second half were good, except for a spell late in the third quarter where we let them kick three quick goals. To our credit,we regrouped and fought out a fairly dour last quarter where both sides looked very tired.
We have now won 6 games in a row, which is great credit to the players. After a welcome break over the long weekend we look forward to a massive test against University on their home ground.
I extend the sympathy of everyone at the club to Ben Birch on the death of his grandfather during the week.
Better players were Tom Wigley, Anthony Medhurst, Drew Litster, Peter Baccanello, Tom Bowler and Ben Birch whilst Jack Nelligan made a welcome return from injury quite usefully.

B Grade Report
Given our disappointing record of close losses away from home, it was critical we come away with a win at Modbury. As is the case generally we were off to a good start and ended up with our best first quarter for the year kicking 5.2 and taking a 3 goal lead to qtr time. The second qtr however was disgusting and as well as losing all momentum, we were undisciplined and our work rate non existent and Modbury took a 1 goal lead into the long break. To the players credit they responded with a resilient second half. We dominated general field play but missed easy opportunities to really put the game beyond doubt and in the end the scoreboard didn't reflect how dominate we really were. Considering we lost Chris Ash to injury early in the first term and Tim Felice after half time with a hamstring, to battle what was a physically hard game was in the end pleasing.
Our forward line functioned much better with Sheedy. Ryan and Mckenzie all taking contested marks and leading to good areas. Their synergy together is improving every week and was much better. Our midfield was dominant at stoppages with toughness and drive coming from Brooks/ Sam Dubois in ruck, Versace, Clothier and Trenorden on the ground and Leggett and O'Connor on the wings. Our defence which has been terrific all year re-grouped after the second term and led by Hanna, Trimboli and Green constantly rebounded us with poise and direction.
This group has come along way from last year and should have confidence to build on the 4-5 record with more home than away games in the last 9 rounds.
